Out of curiosity, which Nikon bodies can use the DX AF-S lenses? I already have the D3100 but feel it may be upgrade time this year. May look at a second hand but want to know what body I could have so I didn't have to buy new glass.
 
Any non full frame camera ( so anything bar the D3/D4 series and D700) use DX, although FF cameras can mount DX lenses too, they just only use a smaller portion of thier sensors.
 
Ah ok, that makes it easier :) I was under the impression that they wouldn't work on an AF body as they already had the motor but I guess not. Cheers guys :D
 
The AF motor on your camera won't operate when a AFS lens attached. Af-D lens will engage the body motor to drive the AF motor.
