nikon d90

I am interested in this too...i have been thinking about buying a Nikon D90 as my first dslr...so i will watch this thread with interest.

I have a D90, fantastic camera and superb value for money. Ok it's been replaced by the D7000 but that cost well over £1k and certainly isn't double the camera.

Just replaced my D90 which was stolen with another D90. The D7000 is I'm sure an excellent camera, but not sure if I'd be just paying for "the latest" kit, without fully utilising the older stuff yet!

The D90 covers everything I need, there are plenty about and plenty of good books to make learning how to use it easy. Also plenty of deals to be had.

As above, re: prices. I just paid £450 used, which I felt was pretty good value, as I hadn't seen any cheaper than that. Good kit lens in the 18-105, certainly sets you off well!

I also have a D90 and I absolutely love it. Tomorrow it becomes my spare body as I take arrival of a new D300s. I want the D300s for the weatherproofing enhancements and its ruggedness, its much tougher than the D90, I want to get outdoors more in the winter.

That's not to take anything away from the D90 though, I would never part with it.

my d90 should hopefully be arriving tomorrow. Upgrading from my d5000. Will report back with first impressions :)

I have had my D90 for a few months now and cannot fault it, its really good in low light to with little noise showing at high ISO

One thing though Video is not a strong point on this camera. I don't care about video but if you do you might want to look elsewhere.

When I got my D90 I was thinking of getting a Canon (can't remember model) but when I went to the shop (as you should do) and tried it the Nikon won hands down for me. Even my wife (not a photographer) said the Nikon felt better and the viewfinder seemed better.

One thing to bear in mind, when you look at reviews and you see the images compared to the equivalent Canon the Canon looks shaper this is because the Canon applies more in camera sharpening than the Nikon but you can change this setting yourself when you get your camera

I just got a D90 and am very very happy with it. Great build quality(typical Nikon) and everything else is just great on it.

Mine arrived and it's a definite step up from the d5000. Loving it so far and really looking forward to getting out and about with it. The 18-105 lens seems nice and sharp as well, and the VR makes a massive difference when you're not able to have a fast enough shutter speed.

can anyone recommend some cheap old manual focus lenses to muck about with?
