Nikon D90 Video function

So, is the D90 video function actually any good?

For instance, could it be used instead of a Dedicated Handycam for instance with any success....

Any comments from people using this function would be most appreciated.

I still haven't used mine. I think I read that you can't autofocus with it, which is why I haven't bothered.

I find it difficult to use the back screen as you do not use the view finder.

Terrible ergonomics aside, the compression is too heinous for my liking. If you really want to go down this route on Nikon the D300s (and D3s) seems less compressed and can autofocus...but is also limited to 720p24/5mins. There's also the rolling shutter issue, which makes a DSLR a bad choice for fast action. I'm really looking forward to a Nikon DSLR which is uncompressed 1080p capable so I can use my more exotic lenses to great effect, but right now I'm very unsatisfied with the D90's effort.
