Nikon D90 or upcoming replacement?

This is the post you denied. 4/6 things on this list are true. Just face it, mate. You got it wrong. Everyone gets it wrong now and then. It's just funny how angry you seemed to be about people believing the rumours might come true.

Can anyone confirm the D7000 doesn't have a built-in focus motor? I can't see that info anywhere...

I believe cowasaki got most things right on the D7000 (not just in this thread). TBF it is annoying when you get rumors saying the the D7000 will have the same noise performance like the D700.

Those who have used it seem to think it's at least in the same league:

* Scott Rinckenberger from the Chase Jarvis team had this to say about the D7000 (from the comments section):

“The rolling shutter is quite a bit better than we had seen in the previous cameras. There is manual exposure for shooting video.

The ISO and shutter speed can be adjusted while shooting. You need to set the aperture before entering Live View.

The microphone input has three levels of audio or auto levels, available through the menu.

ISO is awesome to 3200 and very usable above for photojournalism, weddings, live events, art, etc.

Great low light performance. Holds up for commercial to 1600-3200. Very usable for other applications at 6400. Same league as the D3 line.”

We only have that iso 3200 image to go on, but it seems perfectly usable and that's before any kind of noise reduction has been done. I am certainly not saying it's the same as the D700 or D3, just saying the comparison isn't entirely spurious.

the D700 will probably have a slight edge in poor light simply as the sensor is probably twice as big as in the new D7000.

I think the main thing of interest with the new D7000 is it really replaces the D300/s. The D90 at about £575 will continue to be in demand because the D7000 is a lot more dosh say £950 street price - yet for this money we are getting pretty much a D300 with a lot of new and good features thrown in. I can't see why anyone would have a D300 now let alone pay more than a D7000 for one.

I never said whether the D7000 had a focus motor originally as I didn't have that information.

From that list there are only 2 things that I actually commented about !

fps & nr performance

of those

8fps WRONG it is 6fps
same nr as D700 ....... We'll see about that

What am I supposed to have got wrong?

I said Nikon Rumours are basically full of people putting forward their wish lists and they are usually just guessing. In this case this particular list is 2/3 right but my comment still stands. I chose to share information that I was given and EVERY piece of that information was right!

Lets look at my comment in full:

Its Nikon RUMOURS as in DONT KNOW BUT LETS MAKE SOMETHING UP!

As stated before Nikon Rumours is just full of people's wish lists until right at the end when things do get out. I stated my information well before they did. I could guess now 8 things about the D400 and no doubt get 2/3 right.

Nikon are NOT replacing the D90 this year and this is from the stable boy's mouth. (rather than the horse!)

CORRECT

The NR performance of the D700 comes from it being FF which the D90 replacement WILL NOT HAVE when it comes out next year!!

CORRECT - The NR performance of the D700 DOES come from it being FF and the D90 replacement (be it the D7000 effectively or another camera next year) will not be FF

Even the D300s and D700 do not have 8fps unless you attach the grip!

CORRECT - They don't have 8fps unless you attach the grip and this doesn't either

Its just a general wish list.

CORRECT

I know what is happening but have been sworn to secrecy..... The Nikon range will still include the D90, D300s and D700 in January but another camera will join them BEFORE THEN (but I don't know WHEN).

CORRECT - Although Nikon MAY remove the D90 if they sell them all but again I stated this well before the launch too.

I am still not sure what I am supposed to be wrong about

IF the D7000 does have ISO performance as good as the D700 then I will be VERY surprised. It's ISO performance will be good but the physics of FF cameras makes them superior for this.

Thank you. I have more information about future cameras but to be honest I feel like keeping it to myself after all the sillyness that has gone on here. Maybe I will post it is code and supply the key after launch :D

I know and you know you're leading a straw man argument here - you said the D7000 won't be full frame, then you confirmed it isn't... No-one said it would be, Nikon Rumors explicitly said DX. It doesn't hurt to have a giggle at yourself now and again, you know.

Take it a little bit easy!

I can have a laugh at myself but when someone just stands up and says you are wrong when you are not you would respond and that is what I did.

I don't want to fall out with anyone but it is only reasonable for me to respond.
