Nikon D90 buyer help

I did email the seller pointing that out, he said he would drop to £640 but he did point out that it did come with a Hoya filter and remote control which would cost £30 so that would be a saving of £120 I just cant stretch to a new one at the moment :-(

It's not ideal but a few sellers are offering the D90 with the 18-55VR lens around the £700 mark (before cashback).

I'm not trying to do your sums for you but after your cashback your BRAND NEW D90 will have cost you £685 , where as for £50 less you can have a SECONDHAND one with no warranty.

Two years warranty and piece of mind has got to be worth more than £50

anyway whatever you decide i hope it works out and you have fun with your new toy :)

I agreee with mrgas. That 2 year warranty you get with a brand-new UK model has got to be worth the extra for peace of mind.

I got my D90 from Amazon for about £750, minus £60 cashback = £690. I'm happy :)

The remaining 10 months warranty is not transferable.

It's too expensive, even with those extras. I wouldn't pay more than £500 with the kit lens.

If you can't afford the D90, have a punt on a second hand D80.

That's not punting, that's like passing back. Eventually you'll want to punt forward again.

Save up for it.

Sure, warranty is none-transferable, if the warranty card has been filled out and the name written on it.

Most people buy what they can afford. If you can't afford a D90, in my view the next best thing is a D80. I've got both (and a D40). I'm probably going to still use the D80 for most my work, except where I'd get more benefit from using the D90 - low lighting conditions, more detailed work etc. Unless you shoot video, the biggest difference is the ISO performance.

For all I know, the OP might already have one and be looking to upgrade.

Agree with all of the above.

I can't see any chance of buying a D90 + 18-105 kit for £500. I just sold my D90 kit in under 12 hours (on another board) with a few little extras for £600. I am around to help with warranty if it is ever required, but the thing was as new in any case.

Three potential buyers for mine all felt the little bit of discount off the cost of a new one and the filters etc was worth it. In the end it was first come first served but I could have sold it more than once.

Definitely save another few weeks if needs be. The D90 is a stunning camera, only sold mine to go D700.

ps: Forget the £639 and cap the budget at £600 - will easily buy what you want.

I just don't see the point in paying over 70% of the original purchase price for an item at auction.

I suggested buying the D80 because the going price is more like £300 which is considerably less than the new value of a D90. If the product turns out to be faulty, hot or unreal that's a considerably less cash to end up losing. There's not a great deal of difference between the two and depending on the type of photography the OP has an interest in, the D80 may be just as practical.

Also, at under £500, will fall within the purchase protection paypal offers (when certain conditions are met).

Purchasing from a trusted forum member is hardly the same thing.

I'm rated 1400 at 100% on eBay, and all the people I have bought gear from on there have been highly rated also, so it can easily be the same thing.

As someone who has done a lot of business using Paypal and eBay, I can tell you the £500 protection thing isn't worth a cent. Dot your Is and cross your Ts and they will still tell you to P off.

The only reason to buy a camera is that it takes the pics you want. Not that it is less money to lose if it's faulty!
