Nikon D90 advice please

Hello all
Im in the process of selling my D60 and other stuff so I can buy the Nikon D90 as I love the look and sound of it.Im really looking forward to getting it but I understand its a couple years old now so was wondering would you recomend me getting it or is there another coming out soon in the same price range with the same spec etc ?

Hi Joe,

The D90 is a superb bit of kit and an excellent choice as upgrade from D60. It's been around for about 2 years I think which is a bit short for a complete replacement, judging by recent Nikon product lifetimes. There may be a suffix-s update in the pipeline but Nikon keep things very close to their chest so no-one really knows. Rumour of an update is rife, however, and prices of used D90 bodies has started to fall.

Personally, if I was in the market for a D90 right now, I'd go for it. I've never really seen the logic in waiting for a marginally better but much more expensive replacement to make a purchase.

Get it as soon as you can and enjoy it :thumbs:

Great advice and info and youve just made my mind up.This might be a silly question but will my d60 lenses fit on the d90 ?
Ive just realised that the batteries are different which is a bummer as Ive got 4 for the D60
 
You'll love the D90.

Although I have just taken delivery of a D700 I had a cracking day with the D90 today. SO much so I'm not sure if I'm going to sell it. That may change once my lenses for the D700 arrive but I would definitely miss it, it has made some lovely images for me.

Unless you have some 30+ year old pre AI lenses, all the lenses you were using on the D60 will work on the D90 with the added benefit that lenses with no built in focus motor will autofocus on the D90 with its in body focus motor.
Batteries are different as you say, but I think you will be amazed at the battery life of the D90. One spare will probably be enough.
 
One spare would definitely be enough. I've done full days at motorsports events taking 600-700 shots in a day and the battery meter is still showing 60% in reserve at the end of the day. It won't be until I head out to the US later this year when I will be doing serious amounts of shooting that I'll even consider getting a second battery.
 
Cheers Mike and Andy thats good to know about the batteries, it did get a little expensive having to keep buying batteries for the d60. but i guess i can sell them.
The d90 is sounding better all the time. Cant wait
 
I've just got hold of the D90 and its amazing I can't really find a fault
 
I agree with all the above comments. You really will see a difference between the 2 cameras. The D60 is god bit of kit but the d90 is Premier League. The high ISO capabilities of the D90 are stunning, I've shot birds at 1600 with very little noise, and the battery life as stated above is excellent, you'll only need 2 batteries at most.
Go for it, you'll be amazed.

1 of the many attractions for me was the ISO so thats great to hear too.
 
The D90s ability to shoot well at high ISOs is a major plus in it's spec. Funnily enough I said that to Golgarth last night in the pub

A second hand D90 for a smidge under 500 and you are laughing. So much better than the D60 for numerous reasons. Do it, you know you want to :D
 
I love my D90, I had a look around and for the price (brand new) there is no better camera IMO. It was released in late 2008 so its not 2 years old, just over a year.
