I just got a Nikon D800 and it sounds like there is a problem with the shutter. It works but there is a really REALLY high pitch twang/ spring sound that resonates through the whole camera and goes on for about a second after every shot. It actually quite loud and distracting. It also only gets worse rattling of a few at higher speeds. Its not even so much the sound of the shutter but the high pitch metallic twang sound that keeps going after each shot. Anyone else had this?

Not normal. Return it.

Doing a google search Ive seen a few posts from people commenting on a similar sound so I was hoping it wasnt a big problem. Damn

I've just double-checked with my Nikon experts here. Definitely not something they'd want to hear from a shutter. The D800 has a sound like the D700, quite a loud 'clack' (in contrast to Canon DSLRs, say, which are more of a 'thunk'). But definitely no 'twang'.

Just checked my D810 and no twang, send it back could be a problem, whats the shutter count on it.

Yeah thats what Im going to do. Shame though as I really liked the camera. Thanks for the advice.

It's not the only D800 in the world. If you buy another one, you'll like that just as much, **and** hopefully you won't be worried that it's broken.
