Yes
Purchased from Panamoz and the whole process was painless! Was a bit nervous as never purchased import before but certainly my fears have been laid to rest.

I purchased on the Monday morning, but didn't get processed til Tuesday due to Chinese New Year and Received TODAY! The journey via UPS was Hong Kong, Kowloon Bay, Chek Lap Kok, to Dubai, KoeIn Germany then to the UK! in my hands, not bad in my books!

Currently in work right now so no playing but certainly can't wait to take this out for a spin!

Just got to wait for my new lens now from JohnLewis!(surprised it was cheapest place) 50mm 1.4G AF-S.

If you don't mind me asking, how much was this including import etc?

I'm just about to drop an order for one with Calumet.
Well with the one I used you don't pay import charges. The cost was £1450 via Paypal/Credit Card

I'm not having such good luck with Panamoz. I ordered a Panasonic GM1 on 28th Jan and it's only just gone to Fedex today (despite them telling me they shipped it on Tuesday). I suspect I'd still be waiting for it to be shipped if I hadn't sent them an email last night. Hopefully it will be here next week!

Ooh, that's interesting.

You hear talk from time to time about HMRC clamping down on illegal imports, and obviously if it's true it would potentially hurt the likes of Panamoz. I wonder if routing the item so that it enters the EU in Germany might be a response to that?

That's what I thought, was certainly interesting to follow and pray it arrived safely lol

Mine arrived half an hour ago... I've now officially moved over to the Dark Side!

Well done Panamoz!

I imagine UPS only care about the most efficient route for the items.

I've ordered stuff from dell uk and it's entered the EU via Germany.

Yes, but I am sure you paid VAT on it and Dell UK are the importer not you.

How long did yours take and what journey did it have? :)

It was picked up from Kowloon on Thursday.
Left Chek Lap Kok Airport on the Friday.
Arrived in Dubai on Saturday.
Arrived in Cologne on Sunday and shipped to the UK overnight.
Left Swansea at 06:50 this morning.
Arrived on my door at about 15:30 (after me spending the day pacing up and down)! :)

Nice! Had much time to play with it?

Ordered one of these few days ago too, took 2 and a bit days to get to me (amazing!) and missed the first delivery and UPS guy actually re-attempted delivery the same day! Got mine for £1430 all inclusive. Was £1480 when I ordered (had been £1450 when I looked a couple of days before) but contacted customer services and asked the very helpful Tina whether they would still sell for £1450. She said they would do it for £1430 (again, a nice surprise!), paid £1480 via Paypal on their website and they refunded me the £50. Great service, every email I send is replied to within a few minutes (during daytime hours), thinking of getting a 24-70 from them some point soon. Might pay with BACS this time to save a bit of money!

Edit: Route mine took too: Kowloon --> Chek Lap Kok --> Dubai --> Köln --> Castle Donington --> Edinburgh

Welcome to the club! :-) Hope you enjoy. What lens you using with it?

It is sooooo tempting!!! £1400 for this, sell my D700 for £800 and its a £600 cost to change?? Still not convinced about the D800 though, I like to think my technique is good but people bang on about technique and the smallest flaws being shown up.

Go for it, to be honest i did struggle a little bit at first but if shooting handleld at full res i just simply up the SS a bit to compensate, i just now adopt a better stance and have no issues at all.

Totally agree, still getting used to it and learning camera all over again, especially moving from DX D80 to D800 FF but love the camera and quality is amazing.

But the camera in not being imported illegally - import duty is paying paid by the supplier.

?

I don't want this thread closed with an argument, so please no debates about the ethics of imports. This is all about the magic of buying D800 :-)

I think we all know that it is being imported illegally. But this isn't the place to start another debate about that.

I think it's true... I've screwed up a few shots since I got the D800 that I KNOW I would have nailed with the 5DMKIII. Having said that, when I've knuckled down and paid attention to what I've been doing, the results have been superb! :)

By the way, if anyone's in the market for a macro lens, go and take a good close look at the Sigma 105mm DG OS... I bought one from MPB last week and the image quality is absolutely stunning... It's fast becoming my favourite lens. :D

I have the sigma 150mm macro and it's stunning. I like the extra reach.

I honestly think that the comments about the D800 being difficult to use are over-stated, yes you can make mistakes ... you can with any camera, but what you can get with it far outweighs any odd mistakes IMO :)

I agree... I've spend 20-odd years using Canon gear so it's taking a little bit of time to get used to the new arrangement. I wasn't over-stating a problem, merely mentioning that I've missed shots that I'm sure I wouldn't have with the 5DMKIII. In many ways, the D800 is the better camera (which is why I switched in the first place). :)

Not directly aimed at you Simon - I think much was made of these 'problems' when it was 1st released ... "only for the studio", "only on a tripod", "only the very best lenses" ... whilst there was a hint of truth in all of those comments they were greatly over-stated.

At present, full frame lenses I have are a Nikon 50mm 1.8D, Sigma 105mm f/2.8 macro and Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8. Will have a Tamron 24-70 f/2.8 VC tomorrow or Tuesday and will probably use that mostly. I have a Tokina 11-16 too which covers full frame at 15-16mm until I get a full frame UWA lens. What are you using with yours?
Also getting the Tamron from Panamoz by the way and managed to get them to throw in a Hoya 82mm Pro-1 UV filter, they even changed the web page for the lens so it was listed as an optional extra for me! Great service again! Interestingly the lens is coming the other way round the world and is currently in Memphis in the US!

Posts about the the reasons and route that goods take to enter the country is merely speculation. :D

Cool, I currently only have 2! Nikon 50mm 1.4G and Sigma 150mm Macro.
Saving up for 14-24mm Nikon :-)

Hi to you all.
Thinking about buying the Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 14-24mm f/2.8G ED FX from Panamoz after reading all of the above, has a 3 year free UK Warranty, do you think this warranty is sound.

Thanks
