Hi, i've just purchased a nikon d80 off an ebay sellar and would like to know how to find out how many pictures it has taken in its life to date - i believe they are classed as acuations ?
i presume that they are logged somewhere in its brain but my own brain cannot work out where they are hiding.:bonk: lol.

Take a .jpeg image and run it through exif reader software (loads available free on the net) Opanda is a good one if you are on Windows

thanks for that Martyn, do you know what it will be listed as in the info that the exif reader brings up - there's so much and i've no idea on this. Thanks again

On mine (one for a mac) it actually says "Shutter Actuations" it is over 12 months since I used Opanda, but it was near the bottom and read "total number of ...." sorry cannot remember the rest.

Best bet is to maximise the opanda window, and make the text box wider by dragging its border to the right (makes it easier to read)

App you need is opanda iexif 2

They have a few exif apps on their site, this one is free

thanks very much Martyn, i had downloaded another one but will find opanda and use that if its that clear.

thanks Hairy , ive just seen they do loads of different ones so thats good timing !

Just to make you aware nikon say that they do not gaurentee that the infomation on shutter acuations is correct with exif viewers.
