Nikon D7xxx owners thread

Does the D7100 show it? The D7k doesn't.

D7100 shows the ISO up until you half depress the shutter button it then shows the buffer.

Cant see a problem with this, by the time I press the shutter I've done fiddling with the settings. I do use BBF though.

Rob, it may well do.... I haven't got a 7200 (but a host of others which do display the ISO) so I downloaded the manual - I found it confusing and a little contradictory to say the least. I believe also on Auto ISO you do get an indication.

Have look yourself - D7200 - you'll to provide the input though :(

I've been having a read of the manual and can't see anything about ISO displaying in the viewfinder. Found it in the d7100 and d800 manuals fine. Can't find anything in the d750 but my d750 shows ISO in the viewfinder.

Thought it inferred something about it with the illustration on page 68...

Also page 100.... ????

It seems it can be seen in the viewfinder when pressing the ISO button, nothing said about it being constantly there. Someone with a d7200 may be able to say if it's there or not. I seem to remember an earlier post saying it isn't displayed constantly, only when pressing the ISO button.

TBH I've not found this to be a problem as I simply haven't paid attention to it, however I know that when I am in auto ISO it shows 'Auto ISO' in the viewfinder and sometimes it shows the ISO but not always ... so not very helpful I can't give a definitive answer, will check sometime tomorrow unless someone else does first. :)

Yep - post #414.... well, I'm not buying yet another body just to answer a Forum question.... ooh - hang on though :)

If auto ISO is on "auto ISO" is displayed (rather than the value), if it's off nothing shows unless ISO button is pressed, card capacity shows when metering is active, buffer depth when shutter half pressed. Hope I've explained that OK. If there is a way to show ISO value I'd love to know it.

I have looked at the d3 setting on my D7k and nothing enables the iso to show in the viewfinder.
If you read p216 of the manual it says how to do it on the d7000. You need show ISO sensitivity or show easy ISO selected to enable it. It looks to be the same as the d7100 so it should be able to be done.

Ah, found it. Easy ISO needs to be set to on and ISO is displayed in the vf instead of card capacity.

Edit - but then you lose exposure comp on a dial, Grrr.

Late to the party but just joined the club,Nikon uk has just reduced the price and the free battery grip is back on so not a lot dearer than grey.

Damn!!! And we just bought one for work on 4th (the offer of the free grip says it needs to be purchased from 5th onwards)!!! Haven't opened it so looks like I'll be sending it back and re-ordering it!

Wonder if it's just because Christmas is nearly upon us ...................... or a D400 due to be announced!

Good chance its both plus they need to earn some money

Ahh the D400, haven't heard anyone mention that for a while. I do doubt if that will ever come about considering the d750 is around and nikon marketing seems to be geared towards moving 'pro' bodies to dx only.

When was the d7200 released?

I turned on easy iso and... The iso shows in the viewfinder.

Quite early for nikon to be doing the grip offer then. Guessing it must be to up sales at Christmas rather than a replacement being on the cards.
They've already done a grip offer on the D7200 - that's how I got mine:)

Hello

How is shadow recovery in pp with the d7200 is it as extreme as the samples iv seen over in the d750 thread?

Cheers kellett

Apologies for the double post...

Could anyone recommend a remote for this camera, please? I've got an infra-red one (ML-L3), which I bought about 8 years ago - but it's a bit hit and miss with the D7200 (could just be the batteries!), so I'm looking for one which folks here use.

Many thanks in advance.

I've been using an ML-L3 with no problems so may be your batteries?

Yeah I think that could be the case - probably worth checking for the sake of the cost of a new battery!

Don't know what examples you've seen in the D750 thread, and not sure if the below is a good example either - but the first image is SOOC, the second obviously with PP done. As you can see, it's brought quite a lot out of the shadows! :)

Hopefully this demonstrates what you were after?:)

Thanks for the samples, just weighing everything up, undecided with the d7200 or the d750. I mainly shoot landscapes (aware a FX sensor is more suited) but why spend all that £££ if you don't need to. Have you experienced any issues in low light situations?

Cheers kellett

I think that's a perfect example by @Chuckoir of what's possible. I've been pretty blown away by how much you can bring the shadows back myself. I'm sure a D750 is miles better but the D7200 is good enough for me (which is just as well, I wouldn't be allowed to spend what the big 'un costs :()
