Nikon D7xxx owners thread

Glad to see there are still plenty of D7000 users on here, I was beginning to think I might be one of the few still using.

I am looking at full frame options but I feel I owe so much to my D7000, I owned a D40 before it but I feel I didn't start learning till I got my D7000.

I am very excited as I will be receiving (hopefully tomorrow) a sigma 120 - 400 APO OS lens to use with my D7000. I feel it's going to introduce me to a whole new world (just like the body did).

Hi everyone, just upgraded one of my D7000's to a D7200 and looking for a grip.

Usually buy Meike but having read some reviews there seems to be a problem with 3rd party grips recognizing the battery.

Can anyone recommend one through their experience, cheers

If your D7200 is new and not a grey import, you can claim a free grip from Nikon.

It's neither, haha.

I've just seen a link further up this thread and taken a punt for £20.

I wish I had waited an extra week before ordering mine. The offer is valid from 02 July. Ordered mine on the 24th June!!

@Alisonfd

Did this work okay with your D7200, I one reviewer said it wouldn't work on his? :)

I've just received this one today and can confirm as per other reviewer that although the camera sees the grip, it doesn't see the battery.

It's going back on Monday unfortunately.

Will purchase another after some more looking and report back.

The grip that works perfectly with the D7200 is the Pixel Vertax. Even the weight and feel is very similar to the Nikon one unlike other ones that I tried and, in addition to compatibility issues, they were lighter and felt flimsy.

I have an Mcoplus MP-BGD7100 grip and it works fine on both my D7100 & 7200

Yeah it went back. I didn't get to try it out for a few weeks as I arrived late.. then when I did, it didn't quite fit against the body and the battery wasn't recognized so back it went.

I have found myself getting used to not having a grip. I miss the extra buttons but it means I can squish more stuff in my bag and not having that extra bit of weight is nice.

Yeah, been on the lookout for an 85mm for my trusty D7000 - found one at the local store in excellent condition - just £250 It arrives tomorrow. Won't be able to sleep tonight.

Nikon AF-S 85mm F1.8 G Lens - wanted it for being out on the fells for taking photos of runners who are that bit further away from me. AND for portraits of my border collie. I'm a sad old man!

Can I join the gang now.
Just bagged myself a new D7000, I know, I'm a bit late to the game :)
