Actually I don't think it will. How can the converter turn the RAW into a DNG if adobe don't know how?

A quick gander at the docs would seem to say you will need to wait for Camera Raw (and so Lightroom and DNG) support. Which won't be in the next . update of Lightroom looking at the release candidate (4.4RC) on Adobe Labs.

Ah well, raw + jpeg for a little while if i do get a 7100. Certainly tempted as i have been offered a good price part ex on my d300s. Pretty certain that if the 400 does come out it will be quite a bit more expensive...
 
Delivered earlier today and I love it :) Can tell it's going to make such an improved difference to the way I shoot!
 
Hi all, just getting back into photography with my newly acquired D7000 and what happens? I find this thread! It'll take me weeks to get through :(

Going to bite the bullet and by myself a shiny new D7000 - just e-mailed procamerashop.co.uk to see the best price as they offer some discount if you use BT and they seem to get good reviews.

I went to focus today and tried out the d7100. I was quite impressed, ergonomically about the same as the d7000. The 51 point auto focus coverage was nice, especially with full coverage in the 1.3 crop mode. The ability to change the crop mode and ISO to one of the front buttons was a nice touch too (so i was told). Much easier than pressing the buttons on the left of the screen. There was no memory card in it so you couldn't see how fast the buffer filled up so no answers there.

The nikon line up in the talk was interesting, with the d3200 & d5200 as entry models, d7000, d7100 & d600 as enthusiast models and the d800 & d4 as the pro models. There was a clear split between dx and fx too.

What did everyone else think who had a play? I've pretty much mad up my mind that at some point this year I will probably go for one, and then my d7000 will make a great 2nd body.
 
Glad it seems you can assign buttons for the 1.3 crop mode, I was wondering how easy it would be in the field.

btw, did anyone ask/mention about a D400 while you were there?

I didn't try to assign them myself but thats what they told me. It's interesting as ISO can't be assigned to them on the d7000. If it does work I do wonder if its something they have done to please anyone replacing a d300. He crop mode was easy to find in the menu but a button would be easier.

i didn't ask about a d400 and I didn't see anyone else ask. To be honest Im not sure how much they would know. With how they explained the lineup I can't see how it would fit in, I got the feeling that pro bodies would be reserved for fx now. I did notice they marked the d300s and d90 as limited distribution, only time will tell whether the d400 is on the cards. I think an update to some lenses will probably happen before a d400.
 
Yeah, assigning ISO will be a bonus too.

I still think a D400? will come later, maybe by Autumn, but that's for another day/thread.

I posted tonight that, according to NR, the updated 80-400mm seems very near & I think you'll be right about possibly a couple of others too.

It's good to be a Nikonian atm, but not sure my `moneyboss` agrees. lol

i can understand that as i would probably do that too. i was glad of buying a used d7000 when i bought mine 2nd hand for £200 less than it was new at the time, it was just before they shot up to £1000 during the floods. It would of otherwise of been a d90 as i couldnt afford the new price at the time.

Looks like its being shipped on the 14th, in shops 15th / 16th.
 
Well the itch grew to epic proportions and i have preordered a d7100. Spoke to my local shop and they offered a really good deal on my d300s, it seemed almost rude to refuse! Now fingers crossed it is as great a camera as i imagine it will be.

I am sure it is a great camera but fingers crossed early patches won't have the problems Nikon D800/D600 had.

Looking forward to your views on it

Gone and done it, purchased it from a local camera shop who price matched with WEX so got it for £642. Hopefully will get out at the weekend with the new toy :-)

i see Amazon uk are still at 21st march - is 14th the general date now ?
 
Wow...i'm so pleased I went and brought a d7000, had a good play around yesterday (and got half way through the manual too!). The difference compared with the d80 is such a step up....especially ISO capability.

Also did a few focus tests (to check if it is back/forward focussing) and seems all ok :)

Happy to join the club!
 
Joined the club too today! The camera was delivered today, can't wait to get it out and play with at the weekend.:)
 
Just wondering how many of you guys have to fine tune yours auto focus?
 
As i mentioned somewhere here ; had to fix back focus around -10 for all except expensive nikkor lenses - 24-70 and 105 micro spot on out of the box.
 
Harrisons have it for £629 & DR for £620
Sure is a bargain atm. Great Camera!

I tried that test, but it wasn't so successful. Either I was spot on at 0, or as my other test confirmed, it was back focusing by about 5 stops. Certainly obvious to my eye!
 
Video without the anti aliasing filter will be a nightmare. Look at the D800e. the standard D800 does a superior job
