UK list is £1100
Nice spec camera, now wait for Nikon to reset the price as they did with the D800

UK list is £1100
Is it the same battery as the d7000 (en-el15)? That would be useful to anyone who is thinking of using the d7000 and d7100 as two bodies. Could have an extra battery that could be used in both cameras. I bet the existing d7000 battery grip won't fit the d7100.
Also, with the auto focus sensitive down to f8 (as I understand it?) would this mean that the Sigma 150-500mm would potentially work with a 1.4 teleconverter?
Can anyone explain the 1.3 crop mode to me? I gather it increases the focal length by 2x so would a 300mm f4 now become a 600mm f4 or a 600mm f8? The mp would reduce from 24mp to 15mp. As its dx the 1.5x crop factor would then be applied?
How would using teleconverters then affect this? Would it be 300mm x 1.4 = 420mm x1.3 crop mode = 840mm @ f5.6?
My Sigma 150-500 did AF with a Kenko 1.4tc on my D300S. Admittedly it needed good light.
Flag ship my a$$, been waiting and waiting and waiting for a d300s replacement and then this![]()
Apart from rear AF-On button.. what do you feel is missing from the D7100? Just out of curiosity.. not trying to argue with you. It looks like a suitable upgrade from a D300 to me. The only other thing I can see is the 8fps with the D300's grip would be missed by some.. is that it?
The crop mode is a brilliant option. I loved that function on my D2X (albeit 1.5x on that body) because it not only helped get file sizes down a little, it meant I could frame up and shoot stuff wth a bit more 'reach' without having to do any processing back at base. The beauty of the D7100's crop is there are still tons of megapixels left to play with to get good detail etc. The increase in FPS isn't massive but it helps I suppose.
I'd like to know if you can change aperture while recording video like you can on the D800. That was a pain with the D7000. Not that I ever wanted to change aperture during the scene itself of course (that would look awful) but the fact that I had to come out of live view to do it, then go back in.. that's a pain I won't miss with the D800.

I had the same question few posts up and the reply was no.
Therefore if Canon delivers on the rumoured 7D MKii and Nikon decides that the D7100 is all she wrote for DX then I will probably head over to Canon and waive to Cagey75 on my way.![]()
I don't get the D300s update thing either ... this is basically it, bar the D300s was better built - that's it!! There will be no D400 ... I really wish people would get over that. It's irritating, every other Nikon thread has mention of this D400 that will never happen throughout, and people saying they'll "jump ship" ... buh bye, I doubt anyone's going to miss your moaning lads!!
Not just here either, it's every site across the net where there's a discussion on Nikon bodies. Enough already! Just accept that the D7100 = the new D300s ... and move on.
Ughhhh. I'm not in the market to spend £1100 on a camera body, so i'm not interested in the D7100. I am currently on the market to buy a D7000 though (i.e: today). Conundrum - just go ahead and buy it, or wait even longer for the price to drop, hopefully.
I'm sick of waiting.

Way too much moaning about a perfectly good upgrade to the D7000.
No AF on.
Not fast enough fps.
Interlaced instead of progressive.
Too small.
Too expensive.
But yet we're still all with Nikon?!
The D90 was a nice jump front the D80.
The D7000 was a nice jump from the D90.
The D7100 is not only a nice jump up but in line with all upgrades in the past. Arguably more.
What do people want from Nikon? A DX D4 for under £800?!?
Pretty sure the D90 was a lot more than £600 when it first came out!

A 'pro' dx body is missing out of the Nikon range.
900$ body alone in 2008,don't know what that equates too in real terms and today's money!![]()
£1100 for body only?? Wow!
Camerapricebuster, Nikon D90, Worst Ever Lowest Price, £699.00 - 29 Aug 2008![]()
No, they just want a new D300.
You really have to use a d300 or d300s to appreciate its dedicated iso, qual buttons on the top aswell as af on button for thumb.
I'm with thom hogan and think if Nikon don't bring out a d400 then it's a sitter on their part, there is a massive crowd out there waiting for one, its long overdue and I cannot see them sitting back and let canon walk it.
The 7100 is not an upgrade for a d300s it's a compromise, give with one hand and take away with the other, just saying
