D7100 announced

only if you have a lens with a manual aperture ring.Does anyone know if one can change F stops while in live view?
I thought that the sensors in the D3200 and D5200 are not the same. Nikon also claims that the sensor in the D7100 is a brand new one![]()
What is Kokwell on about? Appears he has lost his final marble and is now spouting 100% gibberish !
rrp price difference is about 850 which is not small. can't compare a street price to the rrp
I've just noticed something very appealing about this camera.
1080i 60fps.
That has some really nice creative possibilities for anyone interesting in video. That alone WOULD make it worth upgrading from a D7000 is you're into video.
You even bother reading what that moron says?
They aren't. The sensor in the D3200 is made by Nikon, the one in the D5200 is made by Toshiba - the dimensions of the sensor in the D7100 are the same as the one made by Toshiba so maybe they made this one.I thought that the sensors in the D3200 and D5200 are not the same. He entertains me, though I expect not in the way he intends...
To those that upgraded from the 300 to the 7000, was it a worthy upgrade?
Thought it was 15 cross type v 9 in the 39 pt af?I've just read something elsewhere that may kind of explain what he's on about. Only the centre 39 AF points are the cross type, while the remaining are only sensitive to vertical contrast. Only the centre 39 will be usable over f8 too, which may be a limiting factor doe anyone using long lenses and TCs.
It is!!!!!!!!!Thought it was 15 cross type v 9 in the 39 pt af?

Do improvement to AF systems mean much to those who use 'single focus point re-compose' techniques?
I use that method on my D7000 99% of the time and will be upgrading my second body soon.

I think when they upgrade the 300 to bring out a pro spec d7K that will be nice. More of a revision than a major upgrade......in my humble oinion
Carry on.....

Does it have zoom to focus point as in the d300?
A small feature, but one we're very pleased to see on the D7100, is the ability to customise the rear 'OK' button to be a one-click magnifier in playback mode. This is a huge time-saver that we've come to really appreciate when reviewing images taken with the D800 and D4, but is frustratingly absent from the D600.
Wasn't what you would call an upgrade Ade, the D7000 AF is woeful compared to the D300/300S, only benefit was better bit better ISO and slightly more pixels, everything else was rubbish in comparison.
You could just crop from the full size in post and get the same result.

No you couldn't. The more you crop the more IQ you will lose.
Think about a lens like the 55-300 which is pin sharp at 300mm. Now add a 1.4x which will make insignificant changes to the IQ, now pop the camera to 1.3x crop and then further crop in post by 25%.
I would be shooting wildlife all day long with that...

Isn't it faster when shooting crop mode?
That's all the 1.3x crop is doing though. It throws away pixels in camera to give you 15ish MP image cropped from the 24MP sensor. You could do the exact same in post.No you couldn't. The more you crop the more IQ you will lose.
Yep, cos equipment is all that is needed Phil............![]()

Benefits of cropping in camera is you get more FPS (and I'd guess buffer) and you won't have to spend time cropping at home. Also there's a card space saving.
edit: also a 55-300 won't take a TC.
