So literally 5 minutes out the back to see how it feels - I'm impressed out of the box. I'll look at MA tomorrow, but seems fine. All wide open, obvs. I mean, this lens ain't going to get used any other way Looking forward to a bluebell shoot at the weekend! Quick dirty edits.

Ouch that is a lot of bokeh! Love it.

Nice. What’s the 135mm focal length like to work with? I’ve often fancied the Nikon DC lenses but not sure on when/where I’d use 105mm or 135mm. I really wish I got the chance to do more portraits. I see why folk have kids now ;)

It's a good excuse to buy new toys and justify them haha

Completely the only use for the lens Thomas

I loved the Canon 135 lens that I had many years ago. Back then I found it perfect for chasing my niece around with, just the right distance to not be in their face. It will take some consideration with backgrounds for sure but it's the kind of lens that will just add something more to the mix.

I've wanted something longer again now that she's far more mobile. Really want to melt some woodland scene's soon. Wanted the 105 but £500 more and the extra compression the 135 offers will be great. They say the rendering is slightly better with the 105 but the AF is quicker with the siggy (seems very snappy) and a touch sharper but it's all so subjective and I don't really notice those slight differences. Quite excited to give this a go.

Actually said a good while ago that I’d buy a 135 just as soon as someone launched a good option. I’ve just swallowed my siggy pride and given them another go, doesn’t look like Nikon are going to update their DC version. It feels well built, better than I was expecting, so far, really pleased.

What have you spoilt yourself with G? Great service again from Panamoz just within 4 days for me.
Nothing much, just a D500, I liked the last crop sensor for my Macro/close-up stuff so I thought I`d spoil myself with something, Plus it will help when I go to the Gorge for shots of the Vultures with the 150-600 G2.
I did think about the D850 and that cropping capability but though nahhh

Any focussing issues? I've found with fast sigma primes that the outer AF points aren't very accurate on Nikon bodies.

Don’t you dare even utter that!!! My sigma allegiance is a frail entity as it is, I’ve had to eat humble pie all week to even gamble on one.

Those posted from last night were all taken using the outer focus points as normal. I’m probably grandmas whisker away from being as discerning as your good self with these things, but so far, so good...

Don’t mention this possibility again [emoji51][emoji23]

 :$ :$ :$

Bench tests confirm that everything looks to be spot on! AF speed is superb, possibly the quickest I’ve known for a fast prime. I do hope this initial finding holds up. Looking forward to a weekend!
Oh dear that could be the commentators curss

Now now girls chin up and be good :dummy:

Uh?? It’s banter [emoji6]

Had my fingers burnt with Sigma many years ago and swore, never again...

You got the sigma dock (is a lens compatible with the dock)?

Nope. Figured I’d see how it is out the box first. If there’s any serious fine tuning needed I’ll have one quicker than it’s AF...

Yes I know what it is, I thought I would put my own banter up there lol

Actually, talking of these focusing docks.
I have had a look at the Tamron one but I just cant work out how to use it, there is nothing in the instructions and Youtube is a waste of time, well from what I could see.
So how do you use them.

...

I'm the same with tamron as I want the 24-70 vc di as mine was brilliant but they royally shafted me on my old one which was in warranty and they wouldn't fix.

But I've stuck to my guns ;):)

Simple instructions:
* attach lens, check for firmware updates first
* then go to calibration and it'll give you some set distances that you can adjust it for (like this: http://blandfordstudios.com/wp-cont...2-page/Screen-Shot-2015-12-07-at-14.53.39.png )
* I'd then set up a focus chart and target and measure out the distance from it to my camera and take a test shot.
* i'd dial in some adjust in camera i.e. +5 and redo a test shot. Once happy(roughly anyway) i'd then inspect the image on the computer, if i was happy i'd reconnect the lens to the dock and set that distance marker with the adjust i.e. +5
* repeat for the other distances
* don't forget to remove the micro adjust in camera at the end.

Only thing to note is that it'll only be accurate for that camera. Put it on another camera and it may be out.

PITA and takes an hour or 2... but worth it.

All my issues were well before the Art series. Everyone raves about the Art lenses and the general consensus is clearly that QC has
improved dramatically. Never had a problem with the handful of Tamrons I’ve had so you buy per your own experiences.

Whilst the docks are clearly more of a proper calibration, it’s quite obvious when a lens needs adjusting. I’m happy with dot tune if needed but sometimes real world shooting in conjunction works fine, hoping I’ll never need one.

Incidentally, all 3 of my 4 Nikon lenses are front focussing badly with high MA values, only the 24-70 is ok with a slight adjustment. Hoping this is the second lens on my 750 that needs no tweaking, we’ll see. 5 minutes shooting last night and trying various distances shooting focus charts on a tripod with all focus points, seem excellent for now.

It’s the one real positive with mirrorless.

I don't think you should try any "in camera" adjustement. +5 "in camera" is not the same as +5 in lens firware.
* test at said distant
* happy with it leave it.
* not happy with it plug the lens on the dock and adjust for said distance
* test again...
* repeat until happy with that distance
-----
* repeat for other distance.
-----
* f it isn't a prime you have more focal lens so repeat for all focal lens.

Are you sure?
You can do +/-20 in camera and in the sigma dock. Assumed they matched?

Did a crude dot test on the sigma 150-600 with the x1.4. I looked at the before and after shots and there is a noticeable difference now. So I'm a bit happier now

Thanks for that, I did have one but for the life of me I couldn`t find how to do it, They are a real PITA.
I`ll think on it and maybe next month I`ll get one (again)

I need to purchase some lenses. Lol

Also waiting for the Sony boys to kick back at me in the Nikon mirrorless thread lol
Thought you were happy with the 70-200 you had?

Tell you what boys and girls, I am pretty well chuffed with this lens! It's been a long time since I've had extra length..

I was sceptical about all that glass to move and whether fast kids would be too much for it, but..

Nice!

I have no need for such a lens, but I likey!

Once you adapt to the zoom ring it’s nice! I was on the fence when I got it but no regrets.

I thought you dismissed it too quickly last time ha. It's amazing how quickly you get used to things. Wasn't sure about the lens rotation when I moved from Canon, felt alien. And the feel of the 750 was horrible compared to the chunk that was the 5D I had. But all that disappeared overnight and feels completely normal Still trying to get used to the wife though
