Nikon D750 & D780

Just bought a Tokina 11-16mm constant f2.8 DX lens to use on my D7200 but tried it on my D750. At 11mm there is a small image circle, as i expected but at 16mm the image circle covers all the sensor, no vignetting at any f-stop. Nice wide and fast, cheapish lens for a full frame camera if just using at 16mm.

Thanks. Like this you mean? I think IQ is starting to drop too much. I'm hoping to get back out with a longer lens before the wheel goes.

Think I must have user error with D500. My images were a lot softer than the D750 ones. Maybe it’s because it was a completely different camera and DX more practice was required!

Did you calibrate the lens to the D500 ?
 
I`ve been away in the middle of France for the last 2 weeks, Bourgogne to be exact and as the weather wasn't always what they said it was going to be we did have a couple of nice (non rainy days)
Anyway, here`s a few that I got that I`m happy with.

1st one is Groot, well its not really, but when I saw this tree its what I saw.

No. 2, A Hen, No idea what breed this one is but it had lovely colours.

No 3, Bit of a cheat this one (Camera on tripod and used a Pixel T6 shutter release) i`m really happy with the sharpness of the Tamron 70-200 G2 *EDIT* Its a bit over sharpened on here.

Thanks, I'm going to try taking a shot like this with my 150-600mm so I don't have to crop so much and lose the IQ.

As already mentioned my first thought would be lens front/back focussing.

Yeah may have been back or front focusing but I’m sticking with the 750 so no need to try better with the 500 lol.

One day you will return to FX! Issues with what may or may not be back focusing on the D500 is not what made me stick with the D750 though!

@snerkler I forgot to take a shot of how I did it, set up camera on the tripod about 1 1/2 - 2 metres away, set zoom to 200mm and focused on the steel rod. I used the pixel T6 trigger things (photo on my Flickr) and waited in the warm watching for the right angle that the birds were at and fired away when I was happy. Most birds buggers off as soon as they heard the shutter clonk but some weren't bothered by it.

Auto WB on both. I agree the 750 has rendered much better throughout the shoot. I can’t not keep the D750!

There you go keep the D750 the answer is there..... But the WB not he D500 is cooler than mine strange..

There's two Auto WB though, one's warmer than the other. Do you know which you had set on each?

I reckon he had the cool on the D500 as mine is warm.

Yeah, just preference at the end of the day though. I’m surprised how much DOF and difference in ‘pop’ there is though.
 
D750 in WB Auto1. D500 whatever it comes in from the factory!

Both at F4, 1/2000 and 280iso.

D750 is a slightly more cropped due to DX reach.

I needed to try the D500 side by side to get it out of my system! All it’s made me want to do now is get a lens with a bit more reach on FX!!
 
Ahhhh the best of both worlds, sadly probably the most expensive too JJ!

So I collected my second D750 on Saturday, I haven’t actually used the first in anger yet :lol: This weekend was ideal for some photography round here too but spent the weekend looking after my daughter as the other half was on a hen do, she was a little tender yesterday so we had a day in watching films instead :cool: I could have taken Ava out but she’s at the age where she’s lightning quick but doesn’t always listen to instructions so can be a handful, taking my eye off her for a moment to set a camera up isn’t really feasible in public :lol:

Got some family events coming up where no doubt they’ll get some action though, I’m considering putting myself forward as official photographer for a family christening this weekend, not something I would normally do but the cameras need an outing ;)

No expense! I didn’t buy the D500! Was on loan!
 
I meant more of the longer reach on FX ;)

I’m hankering after a 70-200 VRII myself but can’t justify it at all, I don’t know whether I don’t use my current Sigma 70-200 because it’s perhaps not as good as some of my other lenses or whether I just don’t use a 70-200 :lol: It’s really ace for couple shots but often find myself preferring a wider aperture on the 85 indoors, and I’m not sure I can justify the cost for such a small amount of use. That said I also tend to not use the 70-200 indoors because the AF accuracy takes a hit in lower light which isn’t really an option, something the Nikon should be better for :thinking: Just thinking I could also use one for engagement shoots which is nice...
