Nikon D750 & D780

Bit of a long shot but I have an advert in the classifieds for a my X-Pro2 for your D750 swap if anyone here is thinking of a change.

Quite fancy trying a D750.
 
Well the d750 is going to have a rest this week as I'm off to Essexs for a couple of days in the first major shooting comp of the year. I might take the rx100 for a bit of a play as it hasn't had a outing for a while.
 
I thought I`d show how this noiseware stuff works so well, heres 2 shots of a Scorpion fly (not taken with D750) (my bad)

Its a shot I took today, this is my other passion in Photography

I`m off to good ol blighty in 2 weeks, South London and Norfolk is my destination if all goes to plan. D750 + IRIX 15mm, Sigma 24-105 and the beast Tamron 150-600 all go too :D ain`t they lucky oh and the O/H too hehe
 
Son reported from his trip to London that his D750 wasn't taking photos. When he came home and I got more details he said that he had been getting occasional 'Err' messages and mirror lock for a while but that they would clear. What he was getting now additonally was a black band across the top of his photos. Knowing vaguely of the D750's previous shutter recalls I looked online and the symptoms sounded like the 'shutter shading' problem. Curious, I looked inside with the mirror up and was shocked to see:

The camera was purchased in January 2016 and the serial number is not one which is supposed to be affected. Shutter count is only 21500.

To try and salvage some pics I can't decide whether to PP in mono or trashed colour, or to just bin the lot?

Edit: now removed.

I think the mono works better. Looks more like "grain" than noise. :)
 
Anyone shoot in JPEG? I made a mistake with the setting at a shoo the other day and had the 2nd card take JPEGS, the colour are actually really nice when imported to Lightroom.

Took you long enough to figure that out ;)

But most of the day? lol ;) I did one comparison out of interest to see how they stacked up against each other, and thought it might be useful for others :p

TBH I knew conditions were going to be a nightmare, unfortunately they were actually worse than I was anticipating. Noise I can handle with shots like these but the colour and clarity's just bloody awful hence why I attempted the trashed colour pp, which I've now deleted :lol:

Yeah, the other tog had a 50mm f1.8 and faired better. I was going to invest in a 50mm f1.4 instead of the 24-70mm and part of me wished I had, but I don't think I'd have been happy whatever ;)

I might post one showing the great chuffing windows I was shooting against tomorrow. Neither camera liked shooting towards those (it was extremely bright) and both struggled to focus at times, even when the fighters were stationary between rounds :eek: And even if they did focus they're so washed out/lacking in contrast due to the really strong backlight.

But I'll just put it down to experience, and you never know maybe I'll find a couple of shots that work (y)

Hi Snerkeler. (Stupid autocorrect always wants to put Snorkeler!) I've posted these before. The top shot has no noise reduction, the bottom a touch via Noiseware by Imagenomic. Someone previously posted a link to it. Granted absolutely that this wasn't taken at the speed of boxing but it was trash lighting. The point is, the D750 has incredibly fine noise particles and a touch of Noiseware deals with it incredibly well.
 
I've had noiseware pro standalone for years. Worked wonders on some images. Slightly miffed that to get a plugin version for LR or PSE I'd now have to pay more though

Anyway, I've come to the conclusion that less noise doesn't always make a better photo, or necessarily a perfectly sharp one. Those boxing images, I like that last b&w one tbh. It tells a story, the look on the guys face as he's punched, the room, the unexcited audience...

If we are trying to take photos rather than create images then they don't need to be perfect. We don't live in a perfect world....what's today's buzzword? Curators? Maybe we are curators of time, capturing moments
