Nikon D750 & D780

I still have my BR sport too but never use it since getting the peak design. Great quality strap but just bugs me how the camera spins around as you're walking. Also the quick release strap on the peak design is a godsend :)
I fixed an arca swiss clamp on mine permanently, makes it really handy to change between the L bracket on my camera and the lens feet on my 70-200 and 150-500, and i also have a spring clip on mine so i can clip it to the belt loop on my trousers if im walking a fair bit.
Works for me.

I've got ants in my pants, if that's the right phrase to use, and am thinking of chopping in my 70-200mm vrii for a couple of primes. :runaway:

I'm looking at the 85 & 35 1.8, to go with the 50 1.8 I've already got. Weight is the main factor for considering the switch, and to stop the "Cooorr, that's a big one!", whenever I whip it out ;).

Would probably look to add either a 24/28 to the set up too at some point.

Obviously the IQ of the 70-200 is excellent, but I'm assuming the primes are comparable - when stopped down to a similar f/stop?

The 18-35g is also a consideration too - I've heard good things about it, but curious if anyone has any real world experiences with it?

Many will say that a good prime is always better than a good zoom, but the VRII is pretty special. Plus it's weather sealed and has phenomenal AF.

I have the 18-35mm G and rate it highly. Build quality is not as good as the higher end lenses but IQ is excellent and it's light.

Some reviews of 24-85 don't really rate it. What are users thoughts. I notice some D750 and indeed Df users have one or the other.

I have the 24-85mm Sir, and it's optically "Excellent". I've used it on a D4s a D800 and a D810 with stunning results.(y)

George.

I have the 70-200 vr1. I would say it's most definitely just as good as the 35mm and 85mn iq wise the AF is definitely faster on the 70-200. Obviously you have the advantage of 1.8 on the primes.

I only got the 35mm 1.8g as I was getting moaned that I hadn't found a Xmas present that the oh could buy.
The 85mm I got of here as it came up at a good price and from a good home.

But I personally would chop in my 70-200 for the primes but also I guess it depends on what you shoot I guess

I had the 24-85 and was my favourite zoom TBH. It's size and weight were great and IQ excellent.

However I now use primes and use the 28/50 and have a 70-200.

I do miss the zoom sometimes but not enough to get another!

Primes are a very personal thing and the obvious choice and recommdations were 35/85. So much so I bought and sold the same combo a few times as it seemed to be the 'right thing' to do.

However I much prefer the 28/50 as don't enjoy 85 and prefer 50 over 35!

Thanks for the info, Terry! Much appreciated.

Looks like I need to get myself down to my local LCE and have a play with the various options. Cheers for the valuable input, has definitely given me something to mull over.

28-300 all the way. :D

Sorry no text on my previous post. Two photos taken with Nikon D750 with the new 105mm f/1.4E Ed portrait lens.
Only received it on Friday so yesterday was the first use at the Doctor Who event at Space Centre in Leicester.
Both shots taken at f/1.4.

I'm slowly sorting through loads of shots from our 10 day holiday in Tenerife a couple of weeks ago. On this particular morning i had a 4am start, a 1 hour drive and a 2 hour hike to get to the summit of Montana Guajara for 7am.
It was an awesome spot to watch the sunrise above the clouds and see the first light on Mount Teide which i had climbed on a previous time there.

Yeah that's the "catch all" alternative, although I just sold a 24-85...

Do you use the 24-120 for portraits at all? If so, how does it fair?
24-120mm fairs very well for portraits imo. Here's a link to some images I took last time someone enquired about the 24-120mm on here (not all portraits ;))

And then a couple more ;)

Below a tight crop with the 24-120mm at f4 and 110mm of Clare's eyeball (sorry it's on the D810). When you can count the individual lashes you know you have a good one and it's a way I test my lenses, but like a t*** I sold it after my HA as I was panicking to lighten the load. Thomas of this parish is putting the lens to good use I hope!

I had a couple of them previously and they didn't wow me like the last one, along with the 24-85mm, I just feel there's some variation with these lenses from Nikon. My 24-85mm wasn't a patch on anibaps one, but that's probably down to the photographer:D

Love to colours in the first and last.

Im planning on trying to do something different when we go to cyprus in august this year

I keep meaning to ask my friends.... When we have the back button focus set we can't use the shutter button to focus while the back button is set is that correct as that how it is on mine.. I just that the mrs prefer to use the shutter button for AF>

Yep that's how it works. I have AEL configuration as one of the items in my menu (and I have my menu set as one of the front Fn buttons) so that I can quickly change from BBF to normal.

Thanks mate. [emoji106]

peak slide

Good man excellent strap I like get the Tan colour next that wasn't out when I got the black one 2 or 3 years ago

I've just gone for the black one.

Got my other flash accessories today well some of them. Just waiting on the flash light stand to turn up tomorrow

I have the orange one (matches my hair) but found it a bit crap with the tripod plate like connector so I have both tethers on a D ring screwed into the tripod hole. I also have the grippy bit on the shoulder/neck bit facing up as I found it didn't 'slide' very well if used the other way.

At the price you paid you can hardly complain ;)

I have the RC2 plate option so can put it straight onto my tripod (y).

PMSL re the sliding of the strap ;) It's designed so that you have the slidey side down when in use then you can quickly flip it over so it stays put when walking around (y)

Yep that how it is [emoji106]

I've same plate too.

Sorry, can the strap only be put into the tripod mount or can it also be attached like a normal strap?

Thanks
