Nikon D750 & D780

Doing my first pheasant shoot today.
Cooked breakfast at the pub first can't be bad.
It's only a small syndicate shoot so easier hopefully to get round to everyone one and get the atmosphere of the day. Fingers crossed as I've never done anything like this

There is one beside me that I might go to for a few hours this morning if I can get away, it's something that I havn't shot before either.

True enough. Don't heap loads of pressure on yourself though, there's really no need.

Decided what your main setup will be?

Going to be brave and run with 35/85 for most of it on 750/610. It's not the gear I'm too worried about, my cousin has been so chilled about the whole thing and I'm thinking there's no light for most of it! Naturally it's going to be more flash than I'd like but hey ho. An hour after ceremony for groups and B&G is just not great so going to concentrate on the larger groups and maybe half hour with them before the breakfast. After that, it will be, what it will be.

Have the day to make sure all the gear is ready, taking a lot of OCF stuff of course. Looking forward to it in a sadistical kind of way, not an ideal full coverage in the traditional sense but will be fun.

I dabbled with 12 bit a couple of times initially and couldn't see a discernible difference, which upon reading now, should be the case.

I'm going to utilise it tomorrow as properly exposed shots will be fine and the extra capacity, quicker download and higher buffer speed will all help with this one-off event for me.

I'm relishing this opportunity, it's almost a little test to see how I cope. Venue is small, I have an hour after the ceremony before sunset so there's going to be no light, all make for a challenging gig [emoji3] I have thought quite a few scenarios out so see how it all happens on the day.

Good luck, I had a November wedding with ceremony at 4PM, so the sun was long gone by the time we got outside for some shots (that they didn't really want anyway..)

Thanks Tim. I guess they would know what they're going to get though, so that's their call. I may get the opportunity to take a few of the girls beforehand but not getting ready, so fly by the seat of your pants stuff. I put a schedule together for my benefit, where I pointed out a lot of holes and things I wanted firming up - she came back and just said everything looked great [emoji17]

Very nice, you have these low light images down to a find art now.

I was hoping to post some images from a trip out this morning but on uploading to Lightroom I've found the LR catolgue to be screwed up, the catologue is missing all of novembers images/edits yet has a couple of recent edits available. Thankfully my last backup (only 6 days ago) should still have Novembers LR edit details and I have the RAWs backed up on an external drive so hopefully nothing is lost.

Yeah I managed their expectations pre wedding day, so they knew what I was working with. Just relax and take it as it goes. At that wedding I got some of my favourite shots I've ever taken at weddings.

I've managed to restore my Lightroom catalogue, I lost the edit data for around 5-10 images I edited over christmas but lost no images files. The edits can be redo so it wasn't that bad. Thankfully Carbon Copy Cloner has done the automatic backups well.

Here's one of the images I took this morning.

Thanks Rob.

That is super Anirban. The colours are incredible!
Thanks David. Actually the colours keep changing and I took a few shots with all combinations.

"Excellent" shot Anirban, nuff said.(y)

George.
Thanks George.

Awesome!!

Your food pics make me hungry, your travel pics make me want to go on holiday - awesome stuff!!

Handheld/tripod?
Thanks Shahid. This was shot handheld with the 24-85VR at 1/10s. The place is heaving with people and tripod was not allowed.

Well - I've decided against switching over to the X-T2 - despite getting what would be a fair amount of cash for the D750, it doesn't really make much sense; I like the lenses I have for the Nikon, I'm familiar with how the camera works, I'm comfortable with the files in PP, and it really is a great camera (not saying the Fooj isn't) - I just need to get out with it more.

Anyway - just got back from a few days with family and met the new Niece which was a good excuse to blow the dust off the camera.

Tried something new in transferring the photos to my phone via the Nikon WMU app, and processing in LR on the iPhone (as I didn't have means to get the photos off the memory card while I was away). Would be better if there was a way to transfer the RAW files, rather than JPEGs, but don't think they turned out too bad considering...

Nice mate, really nice. 'I think' you can buy an SD to lightening adapter but I'm not sure which iPhone/iPad can edit RAWs. You would have to do a bit of research.

Personally, I think you've made the right decision in keeping the D750.

Why thank you! :)

I've got the iPhone 7, and I'm sure that can handle RAW images - didn't know there was an SD to lightening adapter available - I'll do some reading, cheers!

I think Lightroom mobile can edit RAWs but only if you are a CC subscriber. If you aren't then it jpegs only, which is good for the odd quick edit.

Yeah I am a CC subscriber, but I was using the Nikon app to transfer them to the phone, which as far as I can work out - is JPEG only. :)

I'll pick up an adapter - thanks for the suggestion, @minnnt :D

Cracking image that (y)

Agreed, cracking camera and near perfect all rounder. I just can't wait for the day they can make a wide AF spread on FF DSLR.

I think I'll get shut of the 70-200 VRII I 'never' use and stick with the 28-300 for versatility. :exit:

Go-kart track.

Here is one from this morning. I used the Nikon 24-70mm that I recently bought off this forum. I actually shot this around 9am ish, so it was daylight, but I wanted to underexpose everything to try and get it pretty dark. _MNM2093.jpg

Wow, my album on Facebook has reached 8692 people in 1 day. Never had anything over 1000 before.

I have 2 photo shoots and people want to buy prints too. I'm looking around at all the other equine sites to get some ideas on pricing and I really can go so much cheaper if I wanted too.

Feeling the D750 love tonight!

I knew you were doing an album but I just assumed it was a printed one for yourself. I take it it's an online album linked to FB somehow?

I meant online album on my Facebook photography page.

Through pages manager you can see how many people it's reached and how it's reached them. All quite useful info really.

Been some really nice feedback too and everyone knows someone else in the local horsey world so the pics have been getting to the people in them.
