Nikon D750 & D780

Unfortunatley the crested tit is missed focus, hence why it looks soft. The blue tit looks OK, not the most detailed but I think this is due to light and noise. Not bad though.
lol and thanks, I was on my phone and they all looked good but now im home I can see the difference :(
I had to push up the ISO to get any light in them as it wasnt a sunny day here (for a change) and as I said, more of ref shots but crit is always welcome.
Thanks Gents.

Just going through my kit and realised i appear to be missing some sd cards so need to get some more,

Just wondering what are best bang for buck at the min, always got sandisk when they have been on offer.

Ive always stuck with Sandisk pro 95mb/s cards. I found this website useful for comparing card/camera speeds and the best cards to get. It's interesting to see the sandisk 280mb/s cards write quite slowly compared to the 95mb/s card.

At £18.80 for a 32bg card on amazon they are currently great value. The 64gb cards are even better value at £32.99, I'm tempted to pick up a 64gb card to put in slot 2 as back up yet never remove from the camera. I always use the card in slot one to transfer images to the computer. Splitting the data across two 32gb cards (don't have to filled completely) and a back up on a 64gb that's never removed (install and removal is the usual cause of card failure) would be nearly perfect as in field storage. I used to have 4 off 8gb cards and a 32gb card in the d7000. Once file sizes got bigget with the d750 the 8gb cards were much use anymore.

Took some pics of the hunt today (clean boot before anyone asks!) and although I'm really happy with them and I only one shot was out of focus, but think the extra FPS of the D500 may have helped.

Not in the fact of 'getting' the shot, but with the 10 FPS it would give more shots and leg positions if that makes sense! Will upload a few and see what you lot think.

Then I look at the pics and the quality and wonder if I am just being too fussy!

I really like it! I find myself using it a lot. I know it's not 2.8 but it's small size and excellent VR make it such a great lens.

Been using it today and out of 700 action shots I only missed 1. Whether that was the D750 or the lens I don't know but it's focus speed is excellent and useable in 1 hand too.

Just uploading pics to Facebook then will put a few on Flickr and share here so you can have a look.

Anyone use the 12 bit lossless compressed to maximise on card storage? First I heard about this was when Mr Harvey advocated it on the review that made me switch to the 750. With the wedding on Wednesday I'm thinking about using it as I will get away with using 64gb cards in both bodies and for backup, probably negating a change all day.

Perhaps it's just the Christmas spirit that has f***ed off eh?

I do love a good punch up after a big dinner.:popcorn::popcorn:

It's the endless f*****g stupid questions that have been going on for a year now that have me f****d off. Now where is that ignore button before I get hit with the ban hammer :D

Does very much sound like it! Perhaps maybe a little cooling off period to find the festive spirit might be in order. If you can't be good to each other, then both step out of the thread.

You're very right. Instead of both making my wine go off, you could have easily have hit the ignore button a very long time ago.

Well said mods. I've put him on ignore list already after his remarked roflao

That's also not something we like announced on the forums. And you are both as bad as each other

Just a few from today! It was a really nice meet and the people were really friendly. Had a chat to a lot of the riders between hunts and even over the jump lol.

For those who do not know, this is 'clean boot' hunting. There is no fox, no scent of an animal. The hounds sniff the runner, he runs, and then they chase him up to a certain point. Hounds, horses and runner get a drink and a rest and off they go again!

Omg they are brilliant images

Bought myself a wee Nikon 85mm 1.8 and tried it out over the weekend for the first time. Need to get used to a prime, have been lazy with all zooms since I changed to the D750 earlier this year. Did MA on it and it just needed +5 so happy with that. Will post some shots when o get a look at them on the computer.

Nah, leave them to it, girls will be girls [emoji12] [emoji12] [emoji12] [emoji12] [emoji12] [emoji12]

Nice images those mate, your pics have really come on in leaps and bounds in a really short space of time.

TBH I've found that even with 6.5fps shooting sports I end up with far too many very similar shots so think it'd be a mare sifting through them all if I shot at 10fps or 12fps. The only time I could see myself ever using/wanting that many fps is with BIF to make sure I have at least one decent shot. Obviously YMMV.

Does 12bit make that much difference to file size over 14? My view TBH though is that storage is cheap and why spend all that money on the camera and lenses and then not use the best quality files?

I've read up on both 12 and 14 bit lossless and have to say I'm not even sure which I'm now using! I've changed it a few times but I've not really seen a difference, though that is something I expected. This review confirms my feels:

https://photographylife.com/14-bit-vs-12-bit-raw

I think I will check I'm using 12 bit as the advantages are greater for me than the advantages of 14 bit. It goes against my feelings of using the best quality possible but if it's unlikely I or anyone else can see a difference without comparing two images side by side then I don't really see advantage to 14 bit files.

The question for you is are your clients going to spot the images are 12 or 14 bit? I think we know the answer to that (likely to be similar to them not worrying about ISO like photographers do). Are your outputs going to take advantage of 14 bit files (printers/screen being able to display the extra colour shades output)?

On a 16gb card the manual says 376 images to 292, but it also affects buffer capacity too (25 to 15 files).

Thanks for this, more difference than I thought then and useful for when I do sports I might try with 12 bit. I'll stick with 14 for everything else though 'just in case' ;)

Thank you, that's good to hear! Just picking up tips from you good people!

Even used manual mode today which is very un-me like lol.

The good thing is I was pretty close too and the jumping ones were only around 80mm.

Really am impressed with the lens too.

Full set is on Facebook so that the people involved can see, getting good responses too:

I dabbled with 12 bit a couple of times initially and couldn't see a discernible difference, which upon reading now, should be the case.

I'm going to utilise it tomorrow as properly exposed shots will be fine and the extra capacity, quicker download and higher buffer speed will all help with this one-off event for me.

I'm relishing this opportunity, it's almost a little test to see how I cope. Venue is small, I have an hour after the ceremony before sunset so there's going to be no light, all make for a challenging gig [emoji3] I have thought quite a few scenarios out so see how it all happens on the day.
