Nikon D750 & D780

What's the used market like at the moment? I have a D750 surplus to requirements but there are surprisingly few on the market and prices vary hugely, do they just not sell or are people not selling? I'm not sure whether to risk an eBay auction or play it safe here. New prices seem to have gone through the roof and are climbing all the time.

Play it safe. Ebay and paypal fees are stupid high and paypal seem to just do what they like these days.

Prompted me to buy a couple of the 64gb sandisk extreme pro's as xmas presents for someone ;-)

What was the cheap 3rd party battery recommendation again? I have 3 Nikon's but need another as backup for this wedding.

Going to shoot two bodies but have been hankering after the second spider pro clips for the single belt I have, but in the end I'm buggered if I'm paying £100 for it for one days use. I shall use the single system and have my second camera on my sunsniper strap.

Have you seen the thread on here about the cheaper PD copies that clip onto your belt - mine arrived today. I bought a DSTE battery and it works fine!

I just got one, its from China, The name on it is TERA (written in green) I paid 16.99 euros so I guess in £`s about the same price.

I've bought ex pro batteries for every camera I've had and all have worked perfectly to date.

I absolutely love the wireless nature of the d750. We had an idea for my youngest's homework about reflection. Got the d750, took a pic, sent it to my iPhone and printed it wirelessly. Made the homework fun for all and Jess loved it! She spent a while getting the right angle and then we took the pic. She called it me and my army!

Does anyone use a hand strap with their d750 that they would recommend?

I have a single Q Strap and their hand strap that I bought for use with my d7000. In all honesty I don't use the Q strap because I couldn't get on with the camera swinging around at my hip and with the d750 being heavier doubt it will get any use with that either. However, I have used their hand strap, liking the fact I could walk around with the camera in my hand without too firm a grip, and even putting my hand through and having it dangle from my wrist.....much easier to move your hand with the camera out of the way of things when walking along than with the swinging Q strap.

Anyway, the one thing I don't like so much is the plastic fixing plate that goes to the tripod screw point. I found that to get in the way a bit when changing batteries and didn't help when actually using the tripod.

So anyone have experience of other hand straps, that are secure, easy to attach and adjust without adding much in the way of fixing plates etc. ?

thanks
Chris

Thank you guys, went for 32gb sandisk extreme pro, only £21. And invested in a very nice Peak Slide camera strap. Which I have to say is superb! Anyway, the sun was shining today, so I decided to blood the D750, and here is one of the results.
Taken with an old 36 year old Nikon AI 24mm manual lens.

Love a bit of flare :)

Shame the nano coating on the new lenses seems to pretty much eliminate it!

Im my head this sounds like such a noob question, but hey!

I have a Manfrotto QR plate and when I snap it in to the ball head I need to push the leaver to fully tighten it in place. I am 100% thinking this is normal?!

SD cards, I get the twin SanDisk Extreme packs from Amazon:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/SanDisk-Ex...id=1478082317&sr=1-2&keywords=sandisk+sd+twin
I had to do that with the manfrotto RC2 plate on a ballhead I had a few years again. It just needs a little push to properly lock it up.

Need a bag for January as going to Scotland to take pics at a wedding:

Taking:

D750
24-120 F4
70-200 F4
50mm
Strap, batteries.

Was looking at something like the Think Tank CityWalker 10:

http://www.harrisoncameras.co.uk/pd/Think-Tank-CityWalker-10-Black-Shoulder-Bag_T671.htm

Or maybe the 20. Bags look nicey padded to take as hand luggage.

Don't want anything massive. My ThinkTank Streetwalker is a bit too big.

I would like something with Velcro and a clip, not just Velcro.

Open to suggestions!

Why do you need a clip, the Velcro on the retrospective series is hefty stuff?

Just prefer to have the option! Had retro 5's before and didn't really get on with them too.

I had an urban disguise years ago and hated it, sold it quickly. Bags are such a personal thing, I have about 4 that I rotate for different things.

Didn't think i'd ever get another D750 but I did and the tilting screen is just awesome on them. Forgot how useful it actually is !

Evening all, my manual is in the loft so can't look, when I change shutter speed after Bulb, it shows Time, anyone know what this function does?

Cheers.

Shutter stays open for thirty minutes or until you press on the shutter a second time. With bulb the shutter only stays open whilst the shutter button is depressed or held open with the cable shutter lock held open, whereas with time the first shutter press opens the shutter and the second shutter press closes the shutter (or it times out after 30 minutes and closes the shutter).

Nikon do an app where you can download the manuals and view them on your phone, it's very useful to check some whilst out and about.

Thanks, Rob, not too different from Bulb, then.

I'll download the manuals now

Cheers.

whilst out this week doing some landscapes I accidentally found out the info button can bring up a virtual horizon level whilst in live view by pressing and cycling through using the info button. Does anyone know if there is a way of bringing up a histogram overlay in live view?

I've edited the post further, it's similar in its output but the way it's done is slightly different. With bulb you have to keep the shutter button depressed to keep the shutter open whilst with time the first shutter button press opens the shutter and the second shutter button press closes the shutter. If there is no second shutter button press the shutter closes automatically after 30 minutes.

I've just looked and if I keep pressing the Info button the histogram shows.

Cheers.

Hmmmm, I use a infra red remote and in Bulb, I press once to open shutter then again to close it.

Cheers.
