Thanks for the info, I have progressive eyesight and understand what you are saying.
I don't think missed focus as I had lens on infinity.
New battery is in the post as I type

I found it a bit fiddly to handle, but I put that down a lot to how different the grip is from the D750.

Off to park cameras in Friday to try out the 70-200 selections and might have a quick look at the XT2 for future purchase if ever get enough funds!

Enjoying the 24-70 Tamron quite a lot. Got myself a good copy it seems. Have adjusted to +5 and seems spot on for focus.

VC is pretty much essential for me with my dodgy shoulder and it seems really effective.

If the 70-200 Tamron is this good I will be more than happy to choose that version.

Nice and sharp those. I always struggle with photos of my cat (and dog for that matter) as I can never get nice bright but soft lighting like this. Don't know if it's our cat's colour, the light in our lounge, or the fact I'm just s**t at photography :lol:
 
@KitsuneAndy really liking the website and the photos are stunning. I wish I'd known of you when I was getting married I'd have hired you in a shot.

Had nice light coming through the window which really helped. I have taken some truely tragic pics too lol.

Wife was shopping this afternoon so I wandered off to the camera shop and had a nice play with the XT2 (but this was a demo unit from the Fuji rep - so might not been the final firmware and was not allowed to put in your SD cards).

Feels a bit nicer than the XT2, still couldn't get my pinky feeling right, it just hangs off the bottom of the grip lol

Does feel proper solid though, could double up as a weapon!

I would love one as a 2nd camera, but not sure I could replace my D750 with one unless I had it for a longer period to test it out in the real world.

I think most Canon and Nikon owners have positive thoughts towards Fuji but away from this forum and gave read a lot of DSLR bashing from what I think must be Fuji fan boys lol.

Obviously if I was minted I would buy an XT2 to try long-term, but I'm not yet ready for a full system change... Yet!!

Some use DOT tune (video on youtube), but I prefer Spyder LensCal these days.

Thanks, saw that one on YT. Don't want to get the lens cal. Have already spent a bit sending the lens to Tamron to get sorted, but still needs a bit of adjustments.

TBH my finger hangs off the bottom of the D750 too but I Just hook it underneath and find it adds stability. Finished going through my holiday snaps now, really like the rendering of the Fuji. Note to self though, not a good idea to compare the sharpness of the X-T1 with 18-55mm kit lens compared to shots taken on the D750 with 70-200mm VRII :lol:

You can make your own versions of lenscal, as £50 for a bit of plastic is pretty steep. I've been using a make shift one for a couple of years but bought the lenscal recently with some amazon vouchers ;) I used this method before

Slight price difference lol. I can't wait to try 70-200. I'm finding the 24-120 I have been using quite bad for sports. For stills it's been great.

I took the 24-120 to a show today and wished I took the 24-70!
 
So i am still waiting for my Tamron 24-70 but I did put my Tamron 70-300 on last night. Have to say with the d750 it's pretty hefty compared to my d7000. I'm going to have to adjust how I hold the camera and take more weight in my left hand.....pretty much always with the d7000 I was taking the weight in my right hand and still using the function button and dials without too much trouble

Already loving the crystal clear screen and taking shots in the living room last night even without flash, the camera was locking focus really fast compared to my d7000 that would hunt more in those conditions.

I just used some focus chart to fine tune my 24-70. It sits at +5 and although not really a very precise tune I'm happy with the outcome! Last copy I tried was at +20 and still wasn't right!!

D750 is only 60g heavier I think so wouldn't have thought it was too bad?

I ordered the Tamron 24-70 from digitalrev and I think they cocked up. Ordered Tuesday and it got stuck in a "processing order" status until I contacted them on Friday. They gave me a rather too convenient excuse and bearing in mind that within an hour of that the item had been picked and I had a ups tacking number, it was even less believable! Anyway it should be here on Monday and I'm expecting it to be my main walkabout lens.

How do you find it at 70mm? My copy is OK up to 65 but poor by 70.

Yeah that's how the lenscal is designed so it follows Nikon's recommended procedure (y)
 
For giggles (and practice) I shot my local parkrun purely at f1.4 with the 85mm today. Amazingly, out of 700 photos, I had around 4 or 5 missed focus. It's not the smallest piece of glass for the AF motor to be shifting about either...

This might be as basic question. I thought I knew the answer, now having tried it I'm not sure.
Can you use a DX lens on the D750 and NOT put it in crop mode?

I have the DX 35mm f1.8 lens and just thought I would stick it on to see what would happen....and well there doesn't appear to be any vignette, it looks totally fine. Also the camera doesn't t give me option to switch to DX mode...the option is just disabled. Thinking about it perhaps that's right.

Maybe I am over thinking this, but what is gong on and what field of view am I actually getting when I do this?
 
Anyone find visits to camera shops can be quite frustrating?

My local (ish) larger camera store has been going downhill a bit. They have so many empty display spots with nearly all stuff now being behind glass doors rather than on those spiral electronic wire things.

I can see why they so this, as these cameras on display do seem to get a bit manhandled and bits taken off them.

Now this would be fine if you could get served. They have taken on reps for each manufacturer plus there own staff.

This is all good and well if you want to look at one brand, all very helpful. The Fuji guy was particularly nice with his shiny new gear, up until the point I asked if I could compare it to another brand... this guy was no longer my friend it seemed. I was told quite abruptly that if I wanted to compare cameras I needed to talk to one of the 'normal' staff members.

Good luck me, at one point there were 4, then 2 went outside and never returned. After walking around aimlessly with a camera strap I wanted to look at (this was sealed item) for 25mins I gave up.

The 2 remaining staff were helping others still, and the other 2 had been abducted.

My wife had joined me by this point and thought she would have that female touch which would help... went over to the Canon guy... asked to look at the Tamron 70-200... Looked at us, said 'I'm Canon' and turned his back and I walked away!

So all I managed to do was look at some Fuji stuff and come away with nothing!

Rant over - enjoy your Sunday.

Have you tried it at f1.8, that's where you will notice it. Other than that it's a great little lens if you don't mind some pp.
 
Ahhh...ok. So I realise Auto DX Crop setting was on by default. Which also therefore is reducing the resolution not just field of view. With it set off there certainly is vignetting, however nowhere near as bad as I thought it might be. I guess if it were a longer lens it would be worse. Vignette control set to high does a decent job of minimising the effect, but it's still there.

Doesn't sound good. The only proper camera shop (LCE) in my town closed a year or so ago and so only have Currys now which only stock consumer stuff. I have to travel across to Sheffield now (only 20 mins) to Harrisons which I generally find to be very good. If it's busy you might have to wait five or ten mins but they're very helpful and let you try out whatever you want.

Had a quick play with the D750 and some studio lights, the WB was on Auto1 but the picture looks too warm.
