Nikon D750 & D780

Still not had a reply from Nikon  I think 48 hours is enough time to expect a response so have sent another email.

I'd be well p**d off with all of this Toby, have you considered posting all this stuff on their "Face Book" blog ? I've heard that this action has had remarkable responses with other companies.:)

George.

I've thought about it as another member mentioned it but it's not really me to have a rant on social media TBH (except TP ;)). I won't give up though, and hope that it can be resolved through 'normal' channels.

Off the chrome hill shortly, it best behave itself or it might accidentally get dropped from a big height (kidding obviously ;)) My biggest 'concern' is that I didn't notice the blurring until I got home and viewed on a proper screen. I shall be scrutinising the back of the LCD but not sure that this will be enough :( Pretty s**t that you're not even sure the camera is going to work ok

I'm not familiar with Chrome Hill etc, but "ENJOY":)

Result:)

Any info from them re fault
They said they are confident nothing is wrong with the camera and it is just a case of the camera not acquiring focus due to low contrast scenes and bringing focus forward causing shallow depth of field  I felt like replying asking how that would affect the shots that I manually focussed (nearly at infinite I might add) and the one that I last posted on here with the two areas of foreground with one being sharp and one being blurred but I thought what's the point, I've got what I wanted and no point upsetting the applecart further ;)

Will try, looks a bit of a climb ;)

Hmmm, didn't go to plan. Tried to climb Parkhouse Hill to shoot chrome hill from there (seen some great shots from this vantage point) but got over 3/4 of the way up and couldn't get any further. Very steep, climbing up on my hands and knees and still kept slipping due to the wet grass. Had visions of me tumbling back down so gave it up as a bad job. Ended up having to come down parts of it on my arse  Walked around the entire hill trying to find an easier way but all looked pretty dodgy so went up chrome hill instead. By the time I got up there the sun had gone behind a load of haze and light was poop  On the way back down I saw two people stood on the top of Parkhouse Hill, god knows how they got up there. Clearly better climbers than me ;) I think I'll try it again when I've got a mate with me just in case there's an accident.

I managed with a dog in tow... Wimp.

Just a pointer, when the weather is good you can shoot from Hitter Hill which will give a better view. IMO Chrome is a bit pox on its own, it needs Parkhouse in the frame too. Hitter is also a gentler ascent but I'm pretty sure there is a well trodden path up Parkhouse.

Maybe there is, I couldn't find it but was stressing about how the light was dropping. I'll revisit it at some point and see if I can find an easier way up. The west side certainly looked easier than the east that I tried to climb, but I still couldn't see an easy way up and I didn't see a path, or any sign of a path/trail tbh. Need to look harder next time ;)

Not sure which Hitter Hill is but I imagine it's the one south of Parkhouse?

Here's my failed attempt at Chrome Hill  Although I'm 'reasonably' happy with the results considering.

IMO it's an early morning place. Looks awesome with an inversion and some sun.
I think most places in the peaks look better with an inversion TBH. Definitely more of a sunrise place.

Apart from closed sized and total height - are there any other differences between a 3 section and 4 section tripod?

Looking at the Manfrotto 190 Carbon and it comes in both. Difference closed is around 7cm.

Stability is the main thing, the more joints the more it flexes.

new toys arrived yesterday too!

Sirui K-30X ball head and Peak Designs Slide Summit - happy with both and the baseplate with teh strap works on the Sirui too.

There's nothing wrong with those, nice gentle light there. Parkhouse looks terrifying to climb, I watched someone climb up on that rocky side while I was slipping and sliding up Chrome once. I'd like to get up there but would end up in A&E with my history! If you can get up Chrome with an inversion in the valley it's superb, it might have been good this morning. The Great Ridge looked great from what I've seen on Facebook

Thanks. Unfortunately the only mornings I can do are Sundays due to working all other days so my options are limited. One day I'll get one though ;)

After using it again, I can highly recommend the Sirui K-30X if anyone is in the market for a reasonable priced ball head. IMO its so much better than the Manfrotto its replaced.

Which manfrotto did you have?

Are there certain conditions that lead to, thus help predict a cloud inversion, or is it just pure luck?
Rain or moisture the night before and cold clear night and some heat from the morning sun are a good place to start, which is why Autumn is such a good time of year for it.

Cheers - now I just need to get up early enough to catch it! :ROFLMAO:

I was borrowing an old one - not sure what the model was - bit battered! Ordered the 190 Carbon today to go with the ball. Just need a bag or something now!

Sold the 70-200 today.

Anyone have any idea how the sigma 105 macro compares to the Nikon?
