Nikon D750 & D780

For those who recently sent their D750 to be fixed via the free recall how long did it take from sending to receiving back? I need the camera towards end of October and contemplating whether to send this coming week or not. It hasn't affected me as such but would prefer to get it resolved. Thanks.

Don't do it. You've not had issues and you risk getting issues if you send it in.
 
Mine took 2 weeks and one day from the day I actually posted it to the day it was delivered back. I did put a note in with it explaining that I needed it back by a certain date and they did oblige and got it back to me 2 days before that date.

Cheers for the warning. I use mine primarily for video and it still shoots as I want it to. The flare has not affected any scenes but was just conscious of getting it fixed in the long run?

I've had nothing but problems since mine went in, now been back 5 or 6 times IIRC and each time come back with a different problem, the latest of which I mentioned a few posts above.

Most seem to come back OK TBH, but I'm not the only one who's has issues since sending it in and needed several attempts to rectify it.

Well it's been in 5 or 6 times already each time with a new problem. I so wish we had the same laws as America as I just want shut of the camera TBH, it's never going to be right IMO. It's not just put me off sending it in, it's put me off Nikon entirely.

Send Nikon UK an email explaining the situation, say you were contemplating switching back to Canon because you had little faith in it being sorted they would probably send you a new one. There is always posting on their Facebook site or twitter page as they seems to get an issue sorted. Have all the problems occurred since you sent it in for the recalls?

Im in the same position, I can't see a problem so I'm not sure I'm going to send it in until I have to after hearing thing like the problems snorkeler has experienced.
 
I won't be sending mine in just in case it has issues. I don't need it in November so can wait until then!

On another topic. Does any one have the Tamron 35mm F/1.8 DI VC? I have the Nikon F2 35mm and thinking about upgrading to get the VC to shoot handheld and a sharper lens wider open compared to the Nikon I have.

Any opinions on the Tamron 35mm F/1.8 DI VC?

I've emailed Nikon's MD previously about the ongoing AF problems and I didn't get a response from him, just some manager at the service dept that said he'd had the message passed onto him. I did ask then if they'd consider sending a replacement as it'd already been in about four times, but they totally ignored it and didn't even bring it up. So I doubt they'll replace it this time either.

I won't be switching back to Canon as never been a Canon user but I have been seriously contemplating it over the past couple of weeks as some will know, it's only the price of the 5D4 that's stopping me. I should be able to replace my glass for used Canon glass for roughly the same price, it's just the body price difference :eek:

It's not good that there are these problems. I seem to remember with the d600 they sent replacements after so many return trips. It's not surprising the MD didn't reply back as it's probably normal to be passed back to a service manager. Posts on Facebook/Twitter seem to get companies attention, it's a shame it needs to get to that.

It does indeed look like camera shake, but I've never known camera shake affect only part of an image. It occurred in liveview and normal viewfinder shooting, both on a tripod and handheld.

My guess would be something to do with the shutter, but I've no idea what :lol:

FFS. I would be going nuts at them mate tbh. Looks like they've ruined your camera to me. If the same is happening in LV as it is when using the VF and with various lenses, then imo it's f***ed and of zero use. :(

Although i didn't fancy the trek into the Peaks this morning, i still went out for a mooch around. (y)

Yes Nikon UK did not impress me.
I had problems with the 750/300PF and asked them to fine tune the combination.
They charged me £40 and when it came back it was worse than before.

Last time I sent it in for the front focus issues they asked me to send in the 70-200 with it and returned it saying it is working perfectly. It now back focuses and it back focuses more at the short end than the long end :rolleyes:

Maybe worth you looking through the D600/610 thread as Rob mentioned above. IIRC one of the posters had the contact details and a letter template (via PM) to send to the MD and again IIRC the ones who followed the advise/letter had replacement cameras.

Otherwise, are you covered by your house insurance;)

You lot are really putting me off a system change ( if I was thinking along those lines of course..... )
 
Hmmmm...looking....or d500... I need something with awesome tracking, clearly m43 isn't it. My son ( 13 ) uses a d3100 and tried my kit today at Santa pod " how the hell do you use this rubbish ? The AF is hilarious "

I know you've emailed the MD, I read your previous posts. But again IIRC there was a letter template which I think complied with law possibly and the guys who followed this particular route had new D610 when they were previously being fobbed off with cleaning the oil of their D600 sensors. Worth going back 15 or so pages on the thread, to see if it will be beneficial to you.

If you don't need/want FF then the D500 is a fantastic bit of kit, not many cameras can beat the AF performance. If you want FF I'd still recommend the D750 despite my woes as I realise there are many faultless D750's out there and I've just been unlucky.
 
This is the issue..I love shallow DOF but do I need it ? Is it going to be that much better than a d500 ? Then again, will a d750 focus like a d500 ? I'm getting more into bmx with my youngest so quick and accurate AF is a must
 
Ok, so on a more serious note.. My current gear is e-m1, 7.5mm samyang fisheye, 9-18mm, 12-40 f2.8, 30mm f1.4 and 40-150 f2.8 + tc.... What can I get to replicate this ? I'm not bothered with the FE but I guess this change, if I do it, is going to cost

FF, 18-35mm G, 24-70 f2.8, 50mm f1.4, 70-200mm f2.8 would probably be the closest match, although you lose 100mm eq reach on the 70-200mm. However, FF crops way better than m4/3.

TBH if you bought used and not the latest version of the 70-200mm you wouldn't be far off, excluding the body of course ;)

You could always get the 24-120mm f4 instead of the 24-70mm. It'll still give you shallower DOF than the 12-40mm f2.8 and the D750 is over a stop better at noise handling. AF is not as snappy as the 24-70 though.
