Nikon D750 & D780

Good luck with it mate, next time give me the thousand + you're about to throw away.

Lol maybe I will ha ha. Think we all done it.

Never lost that much, dont plan on it either tbh. A used a7rii at a reasonable price... Good luck.

The crazy thing is that your d750 with Nikon Gs weigh about as much as the a7rii and lens.

You thinking I'll regret it and come back again [emoji3]
I'm thinking whatever you buy you'll find something you don't like and swap to something else :p

How about the new 24-70 and 70-200 f2.8s with the 85 1.4? Would make for a great lightweight kit.................

Why would that be lighter than I got now?

What do you call reasonable prices

It not just the weight. The size of the camera too. The EVF with focus peaking. The 42mp enable heavy cropping

I cannot get over how good the Sigma 24mm Art is, and the ISO performance of the D750:

ISO6400

I will use lens manuel if I had peaking I did when I had the a7ii

Well folks I could be selling off my Nikon stuff. As fed up lugging it about. This going be the final time

I do have some sympathy for @rookies as I've tried several times to move over to a smaller mirrorless system but it's almost always driven by GAS rather than a real need.

I must have bought into Fuji three or four times and it's always ended in tears (losing money!)

Allways Fuji gear for sale on here, more so than say Olympus, I think others have the same problem. GAS

I did a very unscientific check for this, archived classifieds, 140 results for Olympus, 146 for Fuji, now had I included Panasonic as it's m43 it would've probably gone way over the fuji result... and there's probably waaay more for canikon.

@rookies, buy what you think is good for you... sell what you think is not good for you anymore ... repeat... repeat :D .

Just kidding, hope the A7RII will make you happy, but I thought you already tried that.

Hi

It was the a7ii I tried not the A7rii.

Been sleeping on it and spoke to Mrs this morning she think it daft changing and spending at least another £1100 on top of what I get for my kit for somthing I don't use as much as you guys do. But I do use it when needed.

Repeat repeat ha ha

To both you guys up above could you kindly share sooc image of those as I really need see how they are as they sharpness on those beats mine sooc

Well folks I could be selling off my Nikon stuff. As fed up lugging it about. This going be the final time

What should I get for

D750 with 24-85 kit lens
Nikon 50mm 1.8g
Nikon 70-200 VRii 2.8

All mint and box. I would of preferred have them collected as Post Office is a trek now local close down.

I've had a offer from a few online places sometime this can be easier to save on postage I suppose

The 70-200 f2.8 vr2 is bit of a beast whereas the rest are quite lightweight. You could halve the weight of the 70-200 by going with the 70-200 f4 version (it's nearly as good as the f2.8 except at f2.8!).

I often go out shooting with a who uses Sony, the af7ii may be a little smaller but equivalent lenses aren't much smaller, maybe a tad.

How are you carrying the weight? Is the issue the weight, size or I convince of a dslr/mirrorless system over say the smaller portablity of a compact or bridge camera?

Didn't you have a offer of £2400 for your gear, if so, that seems a fair price from a dealer. Not sure you would get much more privately when you consider postage costs and the hassle.

Madness. You will gain nothing.

I just need see how much sharpness being done on these d750 images. As when I tried the Sony I though the sharpness abs AF being nailed better.

Yes then they realise it was a mistake so it went down to £2100

A sharp shot is a sharp shot mate. The 70-200 vr2 is one of the sharpest lenses out there and the 24-85 is good too. Look at Anirbans pics on this thread. The 50 is a bit meh wide open though. For how often you shoot and for what you shoot i think any difference will be negligible, especially displayed on the net.

A few things.

The Sony with the 55mm is a nice little combo it quite compact for it specs. Ok the lens a bit longer than the nikon 50mm 1.8. But it shorter than the sigma art.

The EVF and ibis and live view is somthing else.. Plus peaking..

But to do all this I would need splash out £1100 on top to get the kit I need which is used

Yea, this. It doesn't matter what they look like sooc, you like how they look when posted here so why can't you do the same without changing system.

This is something I like try and do as fed up spending

From what I recall fro your pics with the 70-200mm there's nothing wrong with the sharpness of your shots, they looked perfectly sharp to me IIRC. EVF vs OVF is a very personal thing. I prefer the experience of viewing though an OVF, just makes the world look nicer and I find it less tiring on the eyes. However, it is nice seeing the exposure before the shot is taken rather than getting a nasty surprise now and again. I generally found focus peaking a hindrance except for macro where it is a godsend. Of course YMMV.

The D750 will give you just as sharp images as the Sony if you nail it, however you may find it easier/more consistent to nail focus with contrast detect rather than phase detect. If you don't shoot a lot of moving stuff then a contrast detect system may be better for you if absolute sharpness is the most important thing (y)

SOOC are we talking RAWs or JPEGS? My RAW files look dull and rubbish.with RAW the rear LCD displays a processed jpeg image of the raw file, in Lightroom I see the image as a raw, until I process it the image doesn't look great. JPEG output SOOC is fine, the camera sharpens the jpeg by applying the in camera processing settings.

With RAW files I usually add around 15-25 sharpness and 10-15 clarity in Lightroom either to the whole image or selective using the brush.

Last weekend I was out at an airshow, I got some good sharp images but there are many duffers because shutter speed was low (1/250 for moving planes) and my panning wasn't great. Usually if I get out of focus or unshared images it's because of error by myself rather than the kit (I too have a d750 and 70-200 f2.8 vr2- it's an excellent combo and very sharp).

Please don't take this the wrong way, people on here are trying to help you get what you are looking for without the need to spend lots more. There are some advantages to the Sony system but weight and sharpness won't be massively different, the d750 and 70-200 f2.8 vr2 are nearly as good as it gets across all brands. The EVF and in camera stabilisation are not two reasons I would swap systems.

If you have any photos that show the issues that may help us find out the cause of your problems. I come on here and get disappointed that some of my landscapes are not anywhere near as good as some posted on here, a little help on here and I'm sure I can improve.
