Nikon D750 & D780

If I'm unsure about how much DoF I want during a portrait shoot I sometimes rattle off a couple of frames changing aperture & shutter speed between shots.

Bracketing only alters one thing at once and takes me longer to access.

I clearly just need to be more decisive!
So you're doing more than bracketing then ;)

Are we all talking different things here ? Depth of Field is controlled by opening and closing the aperture. Bracketing is generally half a stop, or a stop over the the shutter speed but could be more up to five or seven frames. Conversely the aperture could be fixed and the shutter increased or decreased bracketing the exposure. There is no requirement for the aperture to be wide open at all times. I'm not sure what's trying to be achieved ?

Bracketing can be done in various ways, not just shutter speed and also doesn't have to be related to the exposure per se ;)

Well that's a given, but I've listed two of the common ones, but bracketing is all about the exposure. That's the whole point !

Nope, that's exposure bracketing. There's focus bracketing, WB bracketing, DOF bracketing etc etc ;)

Ultimately, all that is 'exposure ' - the point when the shutter is pressed that records the image (the image being exposed).
Ahh, if you define exposure like that then I guess so (y)

Not another one...

I'm behaving like a silly little child but all the grown ups have woke up now to spoil my fun.
Aha, I've not really managed to make sense of any of it as everyone was replying to everyone else lol. As you were :p

Love the perspective, happy with it?

Thanks mate. Yeah I am, and actually more so than the 15-30. It doesn`t feel heavy, and for the arty farty stuff I like to shoot, I`m gonna enjoy it. I got a dock arriving tomorrow so I can properly sort out this and the 35.

Hi there, i've bought a d750 here a few months ago and i'm using it mainly to take picture while on walk and/or of my baby boy. I have a 35mm and a 85mm both the 1.8G and both very good lenses. I'm saving money for a wildlife lens such as a 150-600. But before that i would like to find a not very expensive and not very huge lens to get a bit more reach maybe up to 300mm. What's a good lens to look at?

the nikon 70-300 vr may be worth looking at. They go for around £200 used which is good value considering their performance. The 70-200 f4 or 300 f 4 af-s (non vr) could be another to look at but it depends what your budget is and what you call not very expensive.

I've been trying to up my game a little and try to become a little more creative. Admittedly this was done in post, but I'm about 60% happy with this. It's nowhere near where i want to be and it could be ALOT better though i think.

Really like that. Maybe crop some black off it at the bottom??

Nice work mate
Have you tried putting the Capri in the left corner?

It's very nice although I think the composition/crop could be better, too central for me. I prefer the more realistic stuff though, this looks as though it's all computer generated.

Funnily enough it has sat on my PC like that for a week or so. Decided to have another look at it this morning and went with this in the end.

For me, i wish it was a little more central in between the two darker blobs on the crash carrier. I'd also like a touch more on the left to even up the white section with that on the right. I've actually added more canvas to the bottom, glad to hear it was a good move. I liked the way the blue and white matched the blue and white in the background too. The original is a little meh tbh.

Also... the 50 has arrived. :D
