Probably going to move my 24-70 on when my second D750 comes through and move to a 35/85 Prime wedding setup ( I have a 50 and a 70-200 if needed). Need something to cover the wide end on the occasion that the 35 is not wide enough, don't want to spend a fortune but options seem to be.
18-35 F3.5-4.5
20 F1.8
24 F1.8/Sigma 24 F1.4
24-85
24-120 F4
Am I missing anything? It will most likely be used for a handful of group shots. I am leaning towards the 20 F1.8 or 24 F1.8 as it also could be used for some different wide environmental portraits, although the 24 is fairly close to the 35.
Its the size of it plus it's an expensive lens to not get much use, the others are all a couple or of hundred cheaper which will free up some more funds.Since you have listed three lenses starting at 24mm why don't you just keep your 24-70mm.

Had the 28mm 1.8 on my old D600, loved it and I'm getting another to go with the 50 I've got on the way. I know it's personal preference but I think 24 or 28 and 50 is a better combo to work with than 35/50.

Super quick AF, still gives you nice separation if you're fairly close (and it focuses reasonably close) and is usefully wider than 35 without being excessively wide.
Agree, the fun is knowing its limits and still get decent results. The lens does deliver when all you need is some nice environmental portraits or candid shots. It also renders well with good background separation at close distances at the 85mm end.Vet nice shots - the difference between these and the 85g are noticible, but it does show what a capable lens the 24-85 is.
This weekend I noticed my Tamron 150-600mm has quite a bit of dust inside, not horrendous but I've got no more than one spec in any of my other lenses. A quick google suggests that this is a fairly common problem with this lens, photographylife even describing it as a dust pump. Tamron apparently are cleaning them under warranty but I was wondering if there's any way I can attempt to clear it myself?
I've seen a couple of posts suggesting that putting a (uv) filter on the front can help prevent dust being sucked in, but does it really get sucked in through the front? I'd have thought this was sealed and the obvious place for dust to be sucked in would be where the barrel extends, can anyone confirm/deny this?
I've not noticed any problems with IQ as yet, but just wondering about options if it gets worse. Are there any alignment issues with replacing the front element yourself? The dust won't be coming in through the front element but where the barrel extends like you mentioned. The front element on my dx 18-200mm got loads of dust on it and a quick google and I'd made a 'key' out of a window scraper to unscrew the front element. It took longer to make the key than it did to clean it. 5 minute job. Depends on the photography whether the dust shows up. Daytime it doesn't usually but long exposure night photography with bright light sources was a completeley different story.
Nah, I'd send it to Tamron for a free clean if it ever started causing issues, would be paranoid about alignment issues doing it myself. Stevie's gonna be waiting a long timeOptions?
I'd go for the 'sell it Stevie Wonder and buy a new un' option if it's bothering you that much.
Get a dock ordered, the reason that may be returned could be down to focus issues. Check lens and accessories very carefully.

Has anyone bought anything from this camera place? I'm looking at a new Nikkor 135mm f2 DC and they have them new for £662 with free postage.

Yes, I've no problems with grey etc...I assume you know they're grey importers?
I used them a couple of months ago and delivery was about a weekHi Pete, I've bought from them in the past, they're legit and fine, although I wouldn't trust their warranty like I would Panamoz

Lucked out it seems, had a quick walk at work during lunchtime and picked out some subjects at f1.4...it's perfect. £300 50mm Art, sweet!
Looks brand new, box, lens, caps etc all absolutely spotless. Fairly confident it's unused.

I had the Raynox 250, got good results with it. ODF is very shallow though, more so than a macro lens imo.No Toby as Twist says more a magnifier for now, SRB sell a 58mm fit my 50mm 1.8 10x mag but wondered if anyone

Yeah, I used it on my 55-300mm on my Sony A77. Couple of examples here.Yes thanks Toby ,i might try the 125 as not so difficult to get focus i think.even the simple diopters were ok.
Itbseems to be recommended to use a longer zoom with the raynox, did you find that?
They are good.im thinking as i dont like insects using something more for flowers and non insect stuff ,do you have a macro lens now?Yeah, I used it on my 55-300mm on my Sony A77. Couple of examples here.

Thanks, yeah I have a dedicated macro lens now, results are sharper but for £30 the raynox is pretty decent. You can get the older Sigma 105mm f2.8 Macro for around £150 used though. They are good.im thinking as i dont like insects using something more for flowers and non insect stuff ,do you have a macro lens now?

I'm trying to get used to the weight and size of the 24-70 and I appear to have fairly weak wrists!
Any tips to strengthen? I want to make sure I'm not getting blurry pics before the wedding!
