Nikon D750 & D780

Having been using a Sony RX1R with its FF sensor and 35mm f2 Zeiss Sonnar lens, I have found that 35 is probably the best all-round FL (for me). That's why I was wondering about the Sigma, which is supposed to be one of the best 35 lenses around.

Sigma 35 is THE lens for the money and FL imo.

Its my favourite lens and Ive used lots of good lenses. Go for it. (y)

As a former Nikon shooter thinking of coming back (although not ditching what I use now) the biggest headache I have is with lenses for a D750. I still have a 50 1.8 and thinking perhaps the 20 1.8 and 85 1.8 might be good options? The other lens that seems a killer is the Sigma Art 35 1.4 - any views on this?

That is pretty much my setup 20 1.8/35 1.4 ART/85mm 1.8

Have you found any issues with back/forward focusing issues with the Sigma 35? I've been reading some of the Amazon reviews and quite a few people have had major issues with it, so much so they've sent not one but two copies back (even after adjusting with the dock).

I've never had such problems with Nikkor lenses.

I can't remember with it out of the box, but after I fiddled using the dock it's accurate and very sharp. Definitely budget for the dock.

Amazon Prime membership is on offer at the mo - £59 quid, saving £20 quid - bargain if you buy as much superfluous s***e as I do!

You do get it with Nikkors.

Yes, I'm a Prime member too (that sounds pretty filthy, TBF). The thing you have to watch for is Prime eligible items being sold at a higher price than non-Prime stuff. At least Amazon now usually alerts you to the fact though.

It's also pretty disappointing that Prime movies is so bad in terms of selection. We have Prime, Netflix and Sky Movies via a NowTV sub. The best is still Sky, with some daylight between it and Netflix. Prime comes in last.

Slight digression from the D750 thread though so I had better stop there!

I have a couple of Kood filters arriving today - a 100x125 ND grad and a plain squad ND. Both 2 stop.

Has anybody had any experience of them - I read some fairly rave reviews (at least given their low price - under £20 each) - so I'm hoping they'll be worth adding to the pouch.

Thanks - I wonder how it compares overall with the Sigma though (I've read that the ART has a certain look and 'pop' that isn't present with Nikkors)

The Nikon 35mm FX is a very good alternative if you dont crave f1.4. Its super light and small and has excellent IQ.

;) Still have your 50-140 and no plans to give that beauty up. Just that I've not been using the Fujis that much so may sell some stuff I'm not using to help fund a D750.

Did you ever get the Sigma Art 35 f1.4? Reviews always made it out to be a fantastic lens optically but maybe it's just me, I prefer to stick with Nikkor lenses...

Looking for some Fuji lenses do you mind me asking what you are thinking of selling, Cheers

I'm considering the 45. The bokeh looks lush. Could get one for about £370 i think.

Looking for a prime to go alongside the 24-70. Of course I could just keep the 35, but wanted something a bit longer. New Tamrons do look pretty impressive.

Probably the 16mm f1.4 - along with the 50-140 it's the best one I have but I just haven't been using it much.

Anyone got/used the 28mm f1.8g?

Just wondering how it compares to the 35mm f1.8g IQ and field of view.

I know its not worth having the 28 and 35, but I am going to get another 50 and think having a 28 and a 50 is more logical than having a 35 and a 50.

Yes I have the 24-70 now, but looking for some nice light primes for when I don't fancy the zoom.

Had the 28mm 1.8 on my old D600, loved it and I'm getting another to go with the 50 I've got on the way. I know it's personal preference but I think 24 or 28 and 50 is a better combo to work with than 35/50.

Super quick AF, still gives you nice separation if you're fairly close (and it focuses reasonably close) and is usefully wider than 35 without being excessively wide.

Always loved your NYC pics on CS!

Ask David end of next week ;)

Considered the 20mm as all the other lengths you have covered with the 24-70?

35mm is a good choice as a single lens option, but I agree with the 28/50 combo being a versatile choice.28 is wide but the pictures look 'natural'. If you use a 28 as a standard lens for a while the 50 starts to feel like using a telephoto!
