Nikon D750 & D780

Another from the garden portrait series! This (like the last one) was shot with a Godox rectangular soft box (60cm x 90cm - I think) with a Godox TT685n trigger at pretty much full power using HSS, fired with an X1 trigger.

Nice, love the lights. Do you have a link to the softbox? Does it take any Speedlight?

Thanks, it's this one (I think)

Really cheap and does the job, however it's a pain in the arse. You'll need a light stand AND a boom arm as this fit onto an umbrella bracket which the flash fits onto. So the flash sits IN the soft box. It isn't very secure and very front heavy.

I'm going to buy this to replace it http://www.amazon.co.uk/Phot-R®-Pro...55&sr=8-18-spons&keywords=photo+softbox&psc=1 which will be Bwoens mount then I'll need one of these to fit onto the stand and attach the flash (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Godox-S-Typ...460573802&sr=8-2-spell&keywords=gofdox+bowens) which will make it easier to adjust and the flash will sit at the rear of the soft box so it's accessible to change (although I have wireless trigger that can change power from camera).

Hope that helps.

But the weight is nothing like the 14-24....
The reason I want rid of my 14-24 is lack of use. The 20 is to keep in a bag or pocket for occasional use when my 28/1.8 isn't wide enough and I want a reasonably fast lens. The 20/2.8 is a dinky little thing.:)

This is the plan - 20mm; 28mm; 50mm; 100mm. The collection probably weighs less than the 14-24!

I keep thinking the same Dave, just haven't used mine. I so lusted after one all the time I was a canon shooter but.... I do want a good Milky Way shot so holding on for that really. Also want a 24-70 for studio stuff and back up for a wedding at the end of the year, keep thinking of doing a straight swap.

The 14-24 is a brilliant lens, it just doesn't suit my way of seeing. It might not be the doe thing, but Ken Rockwell's suggestion of a 17-35, a 70-200 and a 50 in the bag would suit me for a 'heavy' all purpose kit, with the primes above for low light and/or light weight. You live and learn - the hard way!

Seems a shame that the 20mm doesn't fit in with the black and gold... ;)
I have a gold pen. :)

Well I can confirm the D750 is perfectly adequate at silly snapshots.

Oh, and it's waterproof :)

I had to share this one. Day 4 of weaning: Avocado lol

Yes I remember avocado. It looks the same second time around, too :puke:

Take a tip from my "stupid lessons from weaning" book which I will write at some point - do not make your to-be-weaned child a tasty chicken korma. They may love it but turmeric is a b****r to get out of... well, everything :banghead:

You know what Paul? This didn't look that great on the iPad last night, but on my monitor, I can see it now, very clearly. Looks great, right up my street!

Thanks mate

Brings back memories :)
That is an easy clean up. You wait for the chocolate :D

Think I'm going to stay out of wedding threads, they go sour and full of arguments!

This thread is mych more friendly! All hail D750 users!!

I wish I could get a 24-70 and primes but money will not currently get it all!!

A wise decision.:D:D

George.

They make good entertainment when you have no interest in weddings, let alone photographing the things.

I have established:

1. Pro Wedding Photographers (I am not going to ask what makes a pro) think they are better than Amatuer photographers
2. Amatuer photographers think they can take pictures just as good as pro photographers and that they are over priced
3. Pro's think cheap = bad photographer
4. Amatuer's things cheap = good value for money
5. Pro's getting very defensive
6. Amatuers like to play on this defensive behavior

I'm out. Lol

7. Pro wedding photographers think their job is the pinnacle of all photographic endeavours.
8. I think it must be hell on earth!

It is not just pro photographers that think like that, I think most professionals in their field of work think the same, as a 'pro' network manager in a school I used to love the teacher who presented their laptop which had been rendered useless by their son or partner who 'knows a lot about computers'.

I know pro plumbers and electricians have similar views about DIY experts too.

You get good and bad pros and amateurs in most trades and professions

24-70 is the one stop shop. Does it all mate. As you already have a 50 then i would go for the zoom. But it depends how you like to work.

Primes are wonderful if you have the time or 2 bodies - I handled the 35mm f1.4 yesterday and it felt real nice! But I did the 35/85 combo once and missed so many shots and think I was sometimes using the wrong lens at the wrong time!

Absolutely - professionals in any trade are always going to be defensive about hobbyists claiming to be as good or suggesting their trade is easy. Also, professionals will often equate being "more professional" and/or charging more with generally being better. It's because it's their livelihood and source of income to support their own family etc. I'm the same in my job - companies who decide not to take advice in my field of expertise will not, in my opinion, get as good a result consistently as those that do.

Nothing wrong with the pros fighting their corner and when you see their perspective, it's not just understandable but has to be expected. Equally though, hobbyists who "have a go" are fully entitled to do so but if it impinges on a pro's ability to earn his or her living then don't expect them to support you playing at your hobby at their expense.

Of course, there are some pros here who are unbelievably supportive of us amateurs in terms of encouragement, advice and giving up their time. Phil V and Beth in particular as well as Garry at Lencarta (although he probably generates enough sales from TP to warrant his time here!)

Just a random thought, obviously it is possible but do you think Nikon are the type of company that would bring the new autotune feature in via firmware to camera still in production?

I'm 90% sure Olympus would but I don't see Nikon as the nice types

Aye, it's on the D5, basically it looks like dot tune but in camera
