Nikon D750 & D780

Yep, slide is all round the best I've used. I've had ones that are MARGINALLY more comfortable on the shoulder, but the ease of use of the peak design fastenings, as well as the sturdiness and the lack of spinning of the camera when it's on your hip means it's a sure fire winner for me. With the ones that have a single swivel carabiner I found that I was keeping one hand on the camera al the time whilst walking to stop it swinging and spinning about, don't have to do this with the slide.

I told you get one ages ago when I git mine ;) but you sent it back oops

Love mine really is a good strap love the way the camera doesn't rock around

Just rang for an update on the camera...

They've fitted the new screen and it's still dead. Great. So Nikon have asked them to send the camera to them so they can investigate further... Double great. This sounds like it could become expensive. Triple great. They also so it could be another couple of weeks... Really f***in great!!

Not good:(....House insurance to cover if it gets too expensive?

Rubbish news, David. Hopefully they can either fix it reasonably cheaply or as Simon says, insurance?

It seems crass to follow up that with "and my new kit arrived today" but it did. f/1.8 goodness in the form of a 50mm AF and an 85mm AF-S. 50mm was from TP classifieds (perfect nick) and 85mm was a new grey import. 50mm is just such a great focal length, but I'm loving the compression from the 85mm already :)

Sleeping child doesn't afford many options, but the sharp detail even wide open is wonderful!

I reckon that's pretty close to the sharpness of my APS-C macro lens, but at f/1.8!

That really sucks mate :(

On a positive note, maybe a good time to quench that D810 GAS? ;) :p

Great sharpness. Where did you get your grey 85mm f1.8 from as the grey ones I've seen are only a tenner or so cheaper than amazon?

It was from kachashop on eBay  :$... but to be fair, they had very good feedback and the lens arrived ahead of expectations (timing-wise) with no extras to pay. It was £305 but if you remember that eBay 20% off thing, I ended up getting it for £255 net of that. So I'm a pretty happy bunny.

(to be honest, the AF 50mm f1.8D I bought from @addicknchips which also arrived at the same time looks brand spanking new too - and was even better value! I'd have willingly paid him a few £ more had I not just spent so much on a camera and the 85mm...)

£265's a good saving. Wish I knew about that 20% off

Yeah it sucks but it's my own fault. A little dissapointed with H. Lehmanns though tbh, they're not very hot with their updates or apparent urge to get it fixed.

I have no D810 GAS, well, none that i can afford to cull anyway.

I could sell my lenses and buy one but then a body with no lenses is as useless as lenses with no body.

Ha - that 50mm was mine, I did try to look after it. ;) regretted selling it actually as I bought a 50mm g lens about 2 weeks later off ebay!

Whilst running the risk of sounding like rookies... Anyone got any direct experience with the Tammy 70-200 vc? Can't justify the outlay of the Nikon, but by all accounts the Tamron is a good alternative. Thoughts?

I mainly bought it because it was cheap(er than the Nikon) and I don't see the need in the future for me to use a teleconverter - otherwise I'd have bought the Nikon.
It's sharp, the VC is awesome, AF seems plenty fast for me. It's well balanced on the D750 (still pretty heavy). I don't know how well it's meant to be weather sealed but mine got pretty wet in muchos rain and it's fine.

Thank you, appears as though you chose it for pretty much the same reasons I'm looking at it. Cheers chief.

Sorry that really blows - I'd hate that - I think next day is too long!

Fingers crossed it doesn't get silly expensive.

Well thank you and thanks Jon for looking after that lens :) I reckon I'll be using the 85mm more often (just as well given it was 4x the price!) but the 50mm is a little beauty.
