I tried one of those Bro ones - thought it was rubbish as it was described as 'flexible glass'. It was cheap thin plastic. Larmour or GGS are much better.

Yes Chris, this is the Nikon 135 DC f2.
I chose the 135 because I also have a 105mm 2.8 macro lens (not the DC), which is a very sharp lens, and is also a good length for portraits .
I also have an 85mm 1.4, and the 80-200 f2.8
So, what I did was to use the 80-200 exclusively for portraits for a while, and then sort out the resulting pics in LR according to the focal length they were shot at.
I found myself using 135mm more than the rest by quite a margin.
Then, I looked at the images and tried to work out why that length.(Firstly discounting any where room was tight, and I HAD to use a shorter length!)
I found that the 135 gives a very pleasing amount of compression of faces, especially when doing head and shoulder shots.
The difference is subtle, but IMHO, quite noticeable .
Next I tried the 135 DC.
Blew me away for a couple of reasons.
Wide open it is a "bokeh machine", the backgrounds just melt. The difference between the 80-200 @ 135mm @ f2.8 and the 135 @ f2 is amazing.
The amount of "smoothness" of the OOF areas can be adjusted with the DC ring on the lens, either behind, or in front of the subject.
Everyone moans about the DC lenses being old hat and in need of an update, which may be true, but what a lot of folks don't realise is that the optical design of these lenses
is such that the red wavelength part of the spectrum is focused on a slightly different plane, so the way they render skin tones is unique.
If Nikon brought out a 135mm f1.8 G, I'm sure it would be awesome, but it almost certainly wouldn't have the DC feature, and the rendering would not be the same.
Finally, the CA of this lens can be a bit of a pain, but when you learn how to use the lens, in the right light conditions, it shines, and it's sharp too.
CA is easy enough to fix now anyway, even in LR.
Oh, and it's carved out of a solid piece of steel by Nikon elves who commute to the secret factory in Japan on unicorns.
Seriously though it is a solid well made lens, which will last me a lifetime.
Sorry for the rambling, so I'll summarise my reasons for choosing it:
Compression, sharpness, and bokeh for portraits is unmatched. IMHO of course.

It seemed the best bet for me because I use 2 systems, I can put anchors on each camera and move the strap from cam to cam as required.

Yep, slide is all round the best I've used. I've had ones that are MARGINALLY more comfortable on the shoulder, but the ease of use of the peak design fastenings, as well as the sturdiness and the lack of spinning of the camera when it's on your hip means it's a sure fire winner for me. With the ones that have a single swivel carabiner I found that I was keeping one hand on the camera al the time whilst walking to stop it swinging and spinning about, don't have to do this with the slide.

Really? Mine are definatly really this glass. I snapped one after I messed up the install.

Yep it was just a normal plastic film protector- had quite an argument with the seller as they described it as flexible glass but I described it as cheap plastic. PayPal refunded me in the end.

Yeah they do some plastic ones too.

Maybe I am just used to really crappy ones and these seemed great lol

Weird, the airglass model is glass, it shatters like glass when you snap it. I know there are various types incl plastic.

Haha I have the red 'lava' colour Slide, looks really cool and is a bit more interesting than a plain black one. The blue did look pretty bright though!

I bought a Sumitt last week and the differences are the colour and there's leather binding to the end of the strap. I bought the Lassen one and it's sort of a deep burgundy type colour and very nice IMO. I had it for the same price as the black one, so thought it was a no brainer over boring black;)

Definitely on my want list and good to keep tabs on current affairs provided I can keep my GAS under control.

Ian trying to keep your GAS under control is almost impossible I have tried and failed
 
I'm the same - non owner (at present) but keeping up with current affairs - and the banter is the best on the forum:thumbs:

Their only 250 miles up taking photo's of something that is nearly 8000 miles wide so I'd imagine you would need a wide angle lens. A few good zooms to, seen them velcroed to the wall of the ISS.
