Nikon D750 & D780

I wouldn't send it in yet then Rob. Had a nightmare the second time with an 8 week turnaround.
Don't tell me that! That's an appalling service. I don't think there is an 8 week period where something is going on with wildlife. It does make me wonder if the delayed D500 release is because they are trying to stop this happening. Nikon seem to be getting a name for themselves with new model releases.

The only good thing is I won't be without a camera as a few months ago I picked up a D7200 to try some remote stuff, a crop sensor birds in flight and act as backup on some trips. Never thought the backup part would be needed!

Sorry to break the momentum of this thread but briefly whats the best screen protector for the D750?

It's why I had to buy a back up body! The last time I sent it back, I really had to play on the fact that I needed it back for the birth of my daughter. The young lady managed to get it through. But seriously, the service is atrocious. One of the lads on here was months...

why has it been back so much when they are suppose to fix the flare issue just once?

Flare issue was first time; then I had an accident so that was my own fault; then the main board packed up... I was beginning to think it's cursed. I bought a 610 because I just had to have a body. It played up again last weekend where the focus points disappeared, but then remedied itself half an hour later, really hope it doesn't happen again as I will demand a replacement next time.

It depends what you call shutter shading, it annoying that they don't show examples. I have noticed I once had some images where the bottom right corner was lighter than it should be. I just put it down to flare as the sun was behind the subject to one side. A lot of the time I put any issues I have down to user error as its 99.9% the most likely cause. I've stopped looking for issues since I feel happier not looking for issues that are not there. The decision comes down to sending it in and taking the chance it comes back in the same great working condition, or leaving it and sending it in before ever selling it (hoping they honour the repair years later).
I believe the issue is only when using HSS so in normal shooting you won't see it.

How long are they going to honour recall repairs? If you send it in years later with 50,000 or 100,000+ shutter actuations are they really going to replace the shutter free of charge when they know you checked the serial number on the recall notices in April 2016.
When contacted Nikon they said there is no time limit on when you can send it in.

Just checked my new 750 out on the serial number checker and its not affected by any of the recall issues. If it had have been i was going to send my 70-200 back along with it as i have never really been that happy with the sharpness.
I have just uploaded a raw file to dropbox here https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/86811915/DSC_0786.NEF , if anyone has time sometime would you mind downloading it and taking a look at it and let me know what you think. I had this lens micro adjusted on my D7000 but haven't got round to it yet on my 750 so this is as factory settings.
Much appreciated.
Just checked this, it doesn't instantly strike me as being particularly soft tbh. As the people are fairly small in the frame you're never going to see the sharpest detail and see skin pores and eyelashes etc in fine detail. The guy is behind the lady and so won't be as sharp (assuming the focus was on the lady not the guy) with such small DOF at f2.8. Feel free to post some more examples and I'd be happy to check those too.

If that's the case I probably won't bother sending it in as I don't use flash. I don't want to risk getting it back with bad AF. I only need to repair if I sell it, currently I can't see that happening any time soon. The D750 is a keeper for me.

If that's the case I will definitely wait.

There does seem to be a problem with my focus points. The points keep moving around in low light. FFS really fed up with my 750 if I'm honest, going to try for a replacement I think, doing my head in.

I will have to ask my 3 year old granddaughter to show me, she can make my wife's phone do things she never knew about!

Speaking of iphones and children, our 2 1/2 year old said "smile mummy" to my wife while she was in the shower during the week. She turned round to find him actually pointing the phone in the right direction for a change, he had taken 280 shots from lifting the phone in the kitchen to the last 20 of her in the shower. Luckily for her he didn't upload them straight to Facebook:p

When i registered my camera over the phone i was offered accidental damage etc insurance for 3 years for £120 paid over 20 months at £6 per month.i said i would think about it.
anyone take up the offer or other means of,the John lewis cover through their 3rd party is only £50 for 3 years and sounds as good,

Depends whether any of your other insurance policies cover you. I did take out a specialist one some years ago but I now have it covered by the house insurance.

When mine fell off the tripod and it needed a new lens mount, the repair was about £250 from memory. The excess was £100, so I decided to just pay it. Should have sent the bill to manfrotto for their dodgy RC2 clip. Really need to replace that ballhead but I don't use that often really.

You won't own it long enough to get the benefit... ;)
Bloody hell for a minute when i got the email thread i thought it was Photopaque breathing down my neck again lol, give me a break guys I'm a reformed gas addict now, this ones a keeper :nikon:
