Haha the cat follows me around like a lost puppy, but when I point the camera at her, I have to be fast as she turns her back on me ;)
 
Might have a little lens cul, after my trip next week. Bloody GAS is getting to me lol Would you trade a 24, 35 & 85 in for a 58 or 135? That`s my dilemma at the moment. I`ll still keep the 24-120, so will be covered.
 
@minnnt - Any news on when you get your camera back, David?

I'm suffering from withdrawal symptoms from lack of awesome landscapes! :runaway:
 
It's really beginning to get to me now. BH weekends are made for photographing (apparently this one is also made for going to church and eating chocolate too??) and the weather on Friday was awesome. Gutted to have missed out really.

I rang them on Thursday and they said they had emailed me a quote on Wednesday which they hadn't... I told them i wanted the work doing (i told them this when i dropped it off tbh!!) and they then said it will probably be a further 10 days, especially with the BH. Meh.

Kinda screwed my landscape/rally plans up for next weekend unless it does miraculously come back in time.

Then it just needs the shutter sorting and I'll be good to go. So probably August before you see anything from me.

Hopefully they'll pull their finger out and turn it around this week!

No chance. The 135 needs an upgrade and the 58 is a bit of a novelty. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't mind the 58, but it would be to complement a 35 & 85. But that's me, so doesn't matter what I'd do....:)
 
After using just my 50mm i have come to the conclusion that I do rather like primes. I have tried a 35/85 combo but wasn't keen on 35. But thinking I need something wider to work with with the 50.

Options to complement the 50? If I need them I gas...

I mean guess.

Culls are good and needed. I just culled my 50, 85, a flash and some Fuji bits for a Nikon 14-24 [emoji3]

The bokeh on the 58 though, is so sweet. Damn photography show does it to me every time :)

Havn't got it yet, but any filters will be hand held by a man servant (cheaper than buying the lens adaptor).
 
@JJ! You might want to look at the tamron 45mm I tried that at the show too. Focus was a little slow, but on par with the Nikon 50mm `s

That the macro version? I had one before quite likes it but it went back for a 105mm as I wanted the reach.

I find it a one-trick pony that's too big and heavy to cart about just in case I need that one trick. Keep thinking I might get more use out of a 20/1.8.:confused:
 
Seeing as it's snowing outside, i thought I'd have a look back a few pics. Been having another play around in Nik Efex. Initially thought it was crap but now I've had a closer look I guess it has its uses.

I quite liked this one but not I've uploaded it I can't decide if I do or not. :rolleyes:

The thing to get to grips with on the Nik stuff is control points, it's just a shame it can't keep the settings somehow if I wanted to go back in and edit

Yes, the 60mm F2.8G AF-S Micro. Seems like a nice lens for picking out some details etc. Can't say I've ever really been a fan of 'proper' macro with bugs etc so 60mm should be fine?

To do this you need to convert to Smart Objects - I've got it written down somewhere - will dig it out and post it up later.
SFX is very powerful once you discover all its bits and bobs.
 
Sadly I don't use Photoshop, I just can't be bothered with the extra stages, thanks though, perhaps if I ever take that shot that's worth going the extra mile I may, but I don't think I've opened it to edit a photo in over a year
 
I`ve had it for a couple of years, and it still causes my cs6 to crash .. pita imo ;) I do agree the control points are good though. Capture NX has them too.

Same here. I think I'd use it allot more if I were doing landscape / architectural stuff. Just glad I got my refund and haven't paid for it.

Been looking at some expensive online training courses that intrigue me, but the cost is making my head hurt.

Saw a secondhand one being sold at the show somewhere for £650, not a bad buy at that.

Sat and listened to David Yarrow on the Nikon stand which was quite fascinating. He actually named the 58 as his favourite lens, but then he likes to get close to the action.

The Peter Hurley 3 hour DVD interests me but works out at £213. Also Ben Sasso's 'editing & consistency' which works out at £142 at the mo. I'm always a little sceptical as you just don't know how relevant some of it will be. I'm kinda at the stage that it might be better money spent than gear.... Kinda...

Macro is one area of photography that I haven't had any interest in. But there's the typical shot of my little girls eye that I would like to snap so extensions tubes might be the easiest way of getting that. What would you guys suggest?
