Nikon D750 & D780

Yes, the dot is always present or some symbol is to signify focus. The other thing is that if you use live view then the fine tune option is greyed out.

Out of interest, what were everyone else's range of numbers, especially for the 24-70? I was expecting a range of 4-5 numbers and not the -20 - 13 I was getting.
Fine tune will be greyed out in liveview as you can't fine tune contest detect autofocus :p

A number of my lenses had a range like this. Don't forget it's FINE tune, it doesn't move it large distances ;)

I suspect I was over thinking it. No wonder I had a headache lol

Anyway, set it all back to zero again and I will have another play in a week or so.

Must have missed that bit  But I don't get that, once you've set focus using liveview if you don't then set to manual then every time you half press the shutter it's just going to refocus, which you don't want it to do  OK so I noticed that the Nikon spot did start 'working' even without half press so I guess you don't need to half press the shutter anyway, but I did for belt and braces ;) I set mine to MF after focussing with LV and it worked fine for me, and the results correlated exactly with my other method.

I dunno mate. There`s a couple of frames early on that say not to. I haven`t used it for a while.

Anyone have any experience of the 300mm F4 VR pf?

Seems like a costly piece of glass but quite an incredibly lightweight one!

Not used one David. From what I have seen and read, there's very little, or no IQ improvement over the AFS model, but it takes the 1.7 & 2.0TC better (about same with 1.4) plus its about half the weight and gains VR over the older model. Worth the extra cost for someone like me, just can't afford it yet!

Pretty sure you need to use BBF when doing fine tune, I used BBF and ok

@daygo30 do you ever have the light on in your house??? ISO 10k! That's a pearler of a shot mate.

@Swanseajack it was the weight that interested me.

Also, they have dropped price since release early last year, when they were around the £1600 mark for UK models. Cameraworld are now selling them for £1400 and grey around the £1200. Not sure how much lenses usually drop in years 2 & 3, but it's something I'm keeping an eye on. The weight is a big bonus for me (and you) and it's probably around the weight of a 70-300mm lens with the IQ of a prime. For me, it's a lens I could take out where the current version is too heavy for me hand holding. Hope she has a bigger bonus to afford the 20mm and the 300mm:D

That is a lens that I have been very interested in, maybe if we all talk about it enough on here, someone will buy one and we can see how it performs, sound like a plan?

Don't need one. The 35mm sigma art my next purchase

How much is it. It only £800 isn't it the 300mm

I tried it on a D750 and D810 at a Nikon event in London and it was great. Very lightweight and small in size for a 300 mm

Hah £800?

Glad you've decided on your next lens though. Stick to it! :p

I be sticking to it always wanted a 35mm and we know sigma art the way to go

little'n has chicken pox, which probably scuppers our travel plans

But rookies, the 300mm is ace. Great focal length, lightweight etc... You should get one.

:D

Which one your talking about might be tempted :p

Why you get the a7 pal? Price i guess?
Just winding you all up at the mo

A7 is cheap and a good sensor.... Get lenses though and you're running serious money. Been there done that.
