Nikon D750 & D780

Well if pocket change is an issue - one in classifieds is now £1150

Quick question - took a few pics today with 750 and 105mm I always have focus set at af-c for back button (I use the fn button) . Reviewing the pics I find that one has shown up as af-s ? very strange - anyone any ideas why this would happen - I have not used live view so that's not the answer. I do know that live view shows up as af-s in live view even though camera may be set for af-c when in normal area mode.

Getting my marriage tax rebate tomorrow, should cover the cost of the repair nicely.

Get the camera back, shoot another couple of rallies, then brands hatch, then might actually get around to sending it in to Nikon for the shutter repair... Meh.

Eh, how does that work? To qualify...

You can claim Married Couple’s Allowance if all the following apply:
  • you’re married or in a civil partnership
  • you’re living with your spouse or civil partner
  • one of you was born before 6 April 1935
Were you born before 1935?

I think he is talking about Marriage allowance a different one to the one above.

Haha I wonder how many benefit from that Married Couple’s Allowance! Bit of a niche tax break I imagine...

One from today with Rookies favourite lens.

I just tried the dot tune method out of interest, seemed to work OK. I found it better though just to shoot the test chart at different MA's and see which gave the sharpest results ;) Results were pretty much the same doing it this was as my old tried and tested method so pretty confident they're set right as I got the same result from two tests (y)

I think we all have our own methods. Mine is the DVD shelf at an angle. Or the wine rack (when there`s wine in it). That seems to work for me ;)

Ok on a different note. I`m off to Portugal in April and have my usual lens dilemma, of what to take.
I thought I had it sussed, but took the golden google man for a walk and there`s kite surfing in abundance, so 150-600. I also want to try the 15-30 sigma, to be sure if I want to invest in either the 16-35 or tammy 15-30. But that leaves a big hole for either the 24-120 or 35/85 combo ... Or just say sod it, and take `em all :D Fortunately BA has a generous allowance

So thoughts please, gentlemen ;)

So what's this ere marriage tax benefit? Always happy to get 'free' money ;)

Not needed. Some of my favourite kite surfing pics were taken using a D90 at the wider end of an 18-200.

Oh, and a pair of chest waders to get in the water with the kite-surfers. :D

Chest waders  I`ll end up looking like an Aviva add ;)

Be nice someone got one while there cash back

Good idea. You should pick one up tomorrow.

Initial reports were that it wasn't as good as the original but i find it hard to believe that Nikon would replace one of its most popular (if not the most popular?) lenses with an inferior product? It's absolutely enormous though.

Well the 24-70 is on my list but which I don't know. But it be for a while. Heating turned off now with my thick hoody on since buying the big lens lol

Given that the annual gas bill is something like £600 that's 2 years of no heating and no hot water to fund your purchase lol
