Nikon D750 & D780

Did ask before. Anyone using a grip on theirs? I notice most places sold out of the Nikon version

Nope. Apart from the prolonged battery usage I don't see the attraction. I did 8 hrs (300) photos and a number long exposure and I still had a third of a battery left - enough for me.

Thanks I think it more for taking photos portrait position easier that attract me to one more than battery power.

Might look into a third party one anyone suggest one pls?

That's the other thing I don't understand. I didn't realise there was another shutter button for portrait mode. It must be me being left handed but I find it quite natural in portrait mode as I do landscape (roll camera from right to left so shutter button is at the top)

I think the one that begins with "M" is supposed to be pretty good. Just can`t remember the name ;)

Look back through the D750 forum or even do a search! There's a link to a quite in-depth review of a Meike grip used with a D750.

Might have been when you said you had a Sony though so you probably missed it first time.

I do apologies

Tried the Meike grip, didn't like it so sent it back. Trouble is it's designed like the older Nikon bodies and doesn't have the nice deep grip of the D750 and so feels a bit brick like IMO. I believe all the grips are designed the same.

24-120's heavier than I was expecting, glad I didn't go for the 24-70mm as my walkabout lens now ;)

Oh and the G7x has arrived too. Not had chance to test either new arrivals out yet though as still at work.

I fancied a Meike grip and then started asking myself am I going to use it or it wil just sit there for occasional use?

Other than doing portrait and using with heavy 2.8 lenses, how many of you find it useful for other general purposes?

Lol

Joking aside, I have no issue carrying big heavy lenses such as my 70-200 and 150-600mm, but as a general walkabout I wanted something more manageable :p

I use it with the 70-200mm, it just balances it better

Nice, its a great lens, big & heavy though.

I though I give it a go as it may just do what I want... No one knows till your try (y)

That is the most important part and each should try on their own as preferences are always personal.

Hope you will be satisfied with the lens and look forward to see some zoo shots soon

Cheers pal.

I may still get a 70-200 2.8 one day ;)

Its a superb lens, ive owned it twice but had AF issues with newer bodies like D750 and D800, it would hunt like crazy, Sigma used to rechip the lens to work on bodies like D700, D600 but dont offer that service anymore, hopefully you got a factory chipped model.
