Nikon D750 & D780

Because i don't have a rear sodding screen...
Oh yeah, my bloomin memory strikes again  :$o_O

I've just bought an old OM1 for a bit of fun, obviously no screen on that either, it is a bit of a nightmare. I can't check the images on the computer either though :banghead::LOL:

Be careful the images might all be blank :naughty:

That interesting Toby do you press the magnify button for that?
First thing I do on any camera now is set 1:1 zoom on image review. As Minnnnt says you set it to the OK button in the menu.

They'll probably all come back with the little sticker in the corner saying bad exposure like they used to when I was a kid ;)

A bit of advice please all.

As you may be aware I moved this week from using MFT (EM1) to a D750. I knew it would be a steep learning curve moving to FF, but Im having real problems getting well exposed and in focus shots. Almost everything im taking indoors needs exposure adjustment in post shooting and many are off focus with a lot of noise and shooting at higher ISO than im used to. Im using the settings on the camera from here:
https://photographylife.com/recommended-nikon-d750-settings

I have attached a 3 out of the camera quickly taken of my granddaughter and they are typical of what Im experiencing. Im sure its me but im not clear where im going wrong. All help appreciated.

This one shot at ISO 12800 and some how I altered exposure compensation!

What aperture and shutter speed are you using that's making ISO go up to 12800?

What metering pattern are you using? Do you have exposure comp set on one of the dials as it's hardly something you can alter without realising if you use the dedicated button.
I cannot see any dial or button that I changed that impacts on exposure comp. Im using spot for these

This was F4, I have just noticed the shutter shot at 2000!! But I was shooting aperture priority. :(

Maybe minimum shutter speed set at 2000? Its under photo shooting menu/ISO sensitivity settings

Thanks for the reply. That minimum shutter is set to auto.

What would cause this?

Two identical photos - lens, ISO, Shutter speed, Aperture and white balance setting (white balance is shown as the same in Lightroom), I have noticed it before when shooting at high ISO, with the Sigma 24mm Art and under artificial lighting.

Anyone else experienced this?

Probably the lighting in the room cycling, is it flourescent lighting

What would cause this?

Fluorescent tubes. Drop your shutter speed to 1/100th or less.

Edit - Gary beat me to it!

Is it auto ISO but you've changed the base ISO, very easy to do without realising.
My assumption as well. Happened with me many times. The other possibility is neg exp compensation somehow dialled in.

I noticed that the D750 metering is a third stop darker than my previous bodies. I think it is slightly biased to protect highlights.

A few images from a recent trip into the Peak District with the D750. I am looking for general feedback especially on the PP side as I am still a beginner where that is concerned

Just right where I live

Thanks for all the advice so far. Moving to matrix metering has made a big difference so far. I also notice how much narrower shooting the DOF is wide open on full frame. Still a learning curve so ill be back for me help. First thing this morning the camera was going back! So far its seems to be more the user than the kit!

swan.jpg A 1-1 crop, I forgot to change my settings, so this was taken at ISO 1250. f 6.3..D750 and 80-200 f2.8.

Can be frustrating getting used to new kit, but hang in there you'll get to grips with it soon enough. FF DSLRs are far less forgiving than m4/3 ime, but the results are that much more satisfying.

Oh dear @twist selling his Sony a6000

What does this have to do with a d750 thread? Oh dear rookies still doesn't know what lens to buy. Maybe after the next 100 pages.

I know it nothing do with this thread. Why u selling pal??
