Nikon D750 & D780

Not quite. The higher the ISO the more noise you will incur. No amount of 'getting the exposure right' will change that.

At the upper levels and with sharpening it can be reduced. However acceptable this is is in the eye of the beholder.

If you use a tripod there is no need to crank the ISO, you can use low ISOs that will pretty much eliminate noise. Conversely, if you use a flash gun then there is no need to crank up the ISO. Hope that short explanation helps.
Tbh I think you missed my point ;) I know higher ISO increases noise, but getting exposure wrong (particularly underexposed) and fixing in PP also introduces noise, and been thought to introduce more noise than getting the exposure right in the first place by upping ISO. However, as I also stated tech has moved on and recovery of cameras such as the D750 is so good it would be interesting to see if this is still the case (and I believe this was Ani's point/question).

As for the tripod using base ISO/flash explanation, well no s*** Sherlock ;) :p Sorry, I'm being facetious :sneaky: I realise you were trying to help (y) My point about the tripod was in terms of the experiment, but still cranking up ISO. For good tests I always find it important to eliminate variables, hence for tests like this a tripod eliminates a variable :)

I think what Snerks meant is to support a clinical test using Tripod and shoot at both low and high ISO to compare. In real life, camera shake and a persona hand holding capability will vary and hence in most cases ISO will be high to get a decent shutter speed.

Sure did (y) (and you know I'm going to be testing this too don't you  :$)

That a very pleasant shot Anirban, some nice colours, well framed, and good use of limited DOF.(y)

George.
Thanks, George. if you look closely the focus is in the front and not on the couple as the original shot had a street lamp that I focussed, but cropped it out as it was looking bit odd.

I wish I had someone who could pose for me to take a few shots and use the Brenizer method. Will take my daughter next time :)

I've always fancied giving the Brenizer method a go, but like you I don't have anyone that will be a victim model, and the dog won't sit still long enough ;)

My D750 is affected by the recall. Gonna rack up another 3k shots on the shutter this weekend in Wales then i think i will send it in.
If you could let us know the turnaround time when you do that'd be great (y)

Will do. Not that I've ever had it before, but if i get effectively a 0 count shutter then it's got to be a winner.
Ta.

Agreed. I think I've only got just over 30k actuations on mine (will probably be closer to 35-38k when I send it in), but always nice to have shiny and new :)

When did you buy yours David? As though you only recently got it

Think I really need to get into the MA thingy and learn how to do it properly..

Mine's the same, but it was on the original recall list and I never have got round to it... Now I've got my X-Pro2 to play with maybe I can let it go for a week or two

I assume all lenses would need MA again?
Wouldn't have thought so, don't see why they'd need to move the AF module to change the shutter?

Haven't checked my serial number yet but it's in the dates listed.
Just wondering how long they take to do the recall and send it back?

I took one few years ago and that was the only and last time wife agreed to pose.:(

Shot with a D5100 and 85 1.8G - effective f stop was much wider than F2.

Well after a very short period of being D750less I am soon to be back in the game! Who knew selling off a clash of clans village could reap so much money!!
