Nikon D750 & D780

I have used HDEW quite a lot in the past, are Panamoz just as reliable?

I bought my D750 from Panamoz and they have excellent customer service.

This was an expensive way to solve a short term cashflow issue JJ. Wonga would have been cheaper lol

Not spent/sorted yet! Was just enquiring about Panamoz!

1. One from Florence - know the crop is tight, but this was shot without proper composition in mind. Like some of the expressions in the frame

2. Was testing the 85 1.8 after dusting it , just a random shot. Should have dusted the mini carriage.:p This is cropped significantly.

Dust does look big on little things doesn`t it. Nab one of the kids paint brushes, mate. That works for me ;)

Ha! I may need to get a cat for this purpose. Are they less expensive than a sigma art?

LOL yeah, actually they are (short term) ;)

Here we go again.

This just in - Nikon released a third service advisory on the D750 reflection/flare issue. Now cameras produced between December 2014 and June 2015 are also being recalled (the previous timeframe for impacted models was October - November, 2014):

Actually might suit me as the one of mine that will fall under this recall has over 50k actuations. My other newer one falls just outside the date range. New shutter for nowt can't be bad :)

You won't get a new shutter with the flare issue, different recall.

According to Nikons website you do

Resolution
If your D750 camera may be affected, as confirmed with the serial number check above, you will be provided with the necessary information to obtain service for this issue free of charge. Once your D750 camera is received by Nikon, your D750 camera’s shutter will be examined and replaced, and your D750 camera returned to you free of charge, even if your D750 camera warranty has expired.

That's the shutter issue though not the flare issue so I'm confused as to why they're calling it a flare/reflection recall. Previously with the flare issue they reseated the AF module IIRC.

I think Nikon rumours have listed it wrong, the link they send you too refers to the shutter shading issue not the flare issue. So it's either they've listed it wrong but linked the right recall page, or listed it right but linked the wrong recall page

Didn't use the link on Nikon rumours went to the the service advisory thing on Nikons website and it say the same thing for the new recall shutter will be inspected and replaced.

I tend to think it`s a blanket cover ... My one was supposedly affected with the flare issue, and I managed to re create it once, only. As for this new thing; I haven`t noticed it at all, so I`m not sending it back to be butchered and buggered up by the Nikon service hacks.
If it aint broke, don`t fix it

I had my camera repaired for the flare problem, does this mean it has to go back for the shutter problem?
According to the link my serial number says it is affected ..... Sigh.....

Yes it will do, it's a completely different issue. It's good that Nikon have raised this but not good it's happened in god first place. I'll check mind tomorrow. I should know the serial number off by heart, this will be the third time I've run it through their website now.

All well and good until the day you decided to sell it and someone asks for the serial number or asks you if it's been effected. Probably best to get it done now.

Yeah but after reading all the horror stories of how peoples cameras got screwed up by Nikons service dept` I`ll pass. By the time I sell it on, it won`t be worth much anyway, as I`m not a serial upgrader ;)

Wishes I knew the serial for my first d750 as wonder if mine had that problem and the reason I had a bad experience. I didn't have flare issue though as I checked for that.

Anyway my new d750 not effected

Affected serials link not working on that page for me says 'Service Unavailable'

Managed to check mine about an hour ago, it's subject to the recall. Advised they'd be in touch in approx 2-3 weeks.

Camera unaffected, phew!

edit: the link on the Nikon US site works, the one on the Nikon UK doesn't and says unavailable

My camera (Panamoz) is not affected as per Nikon US serial checking

Fair do's, so is it a shutter shading recall or flare issue then as it's not clear from the Nikon Rumors site? If it's the shutter shading then I do believe the shutter will be replaced (y).

I'm tempted to wait a while longer tbh, kitsuneandy's put me off a bit after he got his back with AF problems. Mine's working fine, I just have to have some extreme AF adjustments set and I'm going away for the weekend in a couple of weeks and I want it for that, then I'm off to shoot the London Marathon again at the end of April. I might wait until after then ;)

Definitely wait!

The same shutter issue as before, which turns out to have gone on for another 6 months unnoticed by Nikon.

They really, really need to get to grips with their QC.

I have two - the first was affected and returned for repair. It came back with half the packaging missing and with the main hand grip barely glued on. I had to sort that out myself.

The second was bought from a batch of supposedly OK ones and now also needs returning. Right as my season begins.

Cheers then Nikon.

Have you ever noticed the issue when shooting?

Once on the first. Never on the second. I won't bother sending it in this time. Mainly due to the state the first came back in. And that's direct from NPS.
