Brands is great for spectators, and even better for photographers if the full circuit is being used. Any circuit with altitude changes is great :- Oulton, Cadwell, Donington and Brands in the UK, and of course Spa, Airfield circuits are just not as exciting.

Really like that Barry thanks there's a Zenitar 16mm f2.8 fisheye in the classifieds at the moment that I'm tempted with never heard of the brand though

TBH mate, Donny is a bit crap imo. Shame as It's only a few junctions down the motorway. Never shot Cadwell either.

Hmm... had loads of experience of 'behind the Iron Curtain' from when I was a kid (from a time when leather cases might've been human hide). If you ever thought Sigma's QC was iffy try this stuff! For what it's worth I once had a Mir 35mm wide-angle that out-performed a Leica equivalent - my friend wasn't so lucky, he would've been better off with a sawn-off milk bottle base!

I was intrigued as to how it performed so did a quick google. Couple of inks for you (you may have already read them)

4 hour drive for me :(

There's Snetterton near me, but I have no idea what races are on there
 
Oh, there's a world superbikes event at Snetterton in July, might have to go down on the practice day :)
 
Donny used to be great until one driver lost a wheel and it ploughed into the crowd. Since then they put catch fences up and moved the crowd further back so it became difficult to blur out the fencing.

Interesting reading. Not sure if its right for me but it is cheap and not a lens I would use a lot hmm need to research more options I think.
 
Yeeze, I'm showing my age now. I think I started going when it first started up in the late 80s just before the TV companies started picking it up. Also followed it at Oulton Park (my closest track). All caught on film, non of this machine gunning 1000 images later
 
I do laugh at people who machine gun. They must get home and have about 3k images tp go through. Then come away with about 15 different cars all at the same spot on the track at the same focal length. Crap.

You must have been standing next to me at Silverstone then when I first got my 7100 and sigma 150-500 haha
 
It's amazing how many people get there at about 6am, set up camp for the whole day and never move. Oulton Park was terrible for it. Knickerbrook was 3 deep in camping chairs!

Druids is pretty good for wide panning, i used the 23mm on my X-T1 to good effect. Having said that, I'm not really a frame filler so shorter FL's are good with me. :D

Do you need a pass or permission to take gear to the track events, or can you just rock up on the day?

Probably 3-4 hours for me too, but I have Dinnington 40 mins from me which is a better circuit anyway :p

I`m happy with either. Bikes are mental, and lots of falling off ;)
