Nikon D750 & D780

Well at least 3 in this club then, ordered D750 Sunday night and, according to UPS, should be delivered tomorrow

I did the same ordered Sunday arrived yesterday, very impressed that its quicker to have some sent from HK than London half the time!!!!!!

You could discuss screen protectors.

Just a thought.

Anyone have any thoughts/experience of the original Nikon 70-200mm F2.8 VR?
Loved it, I used one with a D810 for landscape and despite some reviews which say it's disappointing on full frame, I can honestly say the quality was superb. It's a little softer around the edges but that isn't a problem in the real world, in fact I liked that look. I now have a 70-200mm VR II with a D750, yet to use that lens in anger though

70-200mm f2.8 VRII is my favourite lens, love the way it renders images and has loads of 'pop'.

The Sigma 50 is bigger than the 35mm and the MK1 is even bigger than the Mk2, but less girth.

This is I guess like a universal favourite for all owners. One of Nikon's best lenses. The only downside is the close distance focus breathing - worst of all 70-200 2.8 lenses.

Just saw the comparison between this and the Nikon 200 F2 VRII by Matt granger. Well, not a fair comparison completely, but that 200 F2 is like a king of all lenses. I handled one in a Calumet open day and that thing is heavy.

Not something I've noticed tbh, but then I don't tend to use the 70-200mm for close subjects.

Just stuck up some of our favourite pics from our weddings and engagements in 2015. All D750. Full Blog post is here.

For my new Fuji X Pro 1 when it arrives .......:exit::coat:

(My D750 is going no where have no fear!)

Has anyone used Focal software (lazy way of auto tuning lenses to body)?

I'm thinking about going for it.

Thanks guys. I hadn't heard of the dot tune method, thanks for that. I watched the YouTube video and actually managed to fall asleep watching it [emoji38]. A nice 50 minute power nap! I think that method is not lazy enough for me though.

@decigallen, any recommendations to go for the basic or middle package?

Interested to see how well the auto AF tune is on the D5 and D500. That would take some of the pain away.

By all accounts they have basically ripped of the dot tune method and automated in camera. It works great so hopefully the auto af tune will too.

I would love to try a 200 f2 but it's so big and heavy compared to a 70-200. The VR2 is affected by focus breathing and it was something I worried about when reading reviews. Over the years I've been lucky enough to own the 70-200 vr1, vr2 and f4 vr (all second hand), all are great lenses and perfectly good. If you read reviews then the vr1 is soft is the corners and has bad vignetting, vr2 badly focus breathes and the f4 vr is slower focus but quite sharp. I honestly don't think you can go wrong with any of the 70-200's. I've settled on the vr2 as I found I need the f2.8 at times and I'm not so worried about focus breathing as as long as I can frame what I want it's not a problem. It's something you just work with what focal length you have.

All of these were taken with the vr1, vr2 and f4 vr (not all with the D750, though 2 out of 3 isn't bad!).

Wow, wow and wow.

Thanks, Skomer Island is a great place for Puffins, there is so many that are happy to pose that it's nearly like shooting fish is a barrel! The only issue is there are so many you never know where to point the lens! The Red Squirrel 'Belinda' is a very friendly squirrel that will take a nut from your hand if you offer one.

Great shots Rob, the lenses have jaw dropping quality - I think Minnt's made the right choice, and it's now on my list to buy! Belinda is very fluffy aswell!

You don't see this every day so I had to rattle off a few shots. It's a remarkable camera, and I think I've convinced myself to trade in the D3s. The 70-200 isn't going anywhere though!

(DX mode, 70-200 II VR, with the poorly rated x1.7tc, ISO 1400 - shot pretty much against the light through a grubby, double glazed window)

I was really impressed with the 70-200 f4, I was worried that isolation wouldn't be as good but it still gave good bokeh and out of focus areas. If you don't need f2.8 the f4 VR version is a cost compromise. The VR1 is great too and worthwhile if you can find a good copy second hand. The VR2 takes teleconverters like the TC-14EII very well.

The images above are top: vr2, Middle: f4 vr, bottom vr1.

Thanks Rob that's very helpful. Any experience of the f4 and TC?
