Nikon D750 & D780

I find the tammy is nicely balanced, and doesn`t feel heavy to hold. Mind you I`ve only been out on short trips, so hard to tell what It`ll feel like after a day of humping it around. Plus point is the back pack feels extremely light ;)

No birds around here. We went through a phase of getting a few Goldies down, but they soon buggered off. I've had a quick play with it and apart from the OS, i'm quite happy with it as it is. Good light will obviously help a lot. Also want to look into the AF settings with the dock and see how much i can speed it up just out of curiosity and how it affects the hit rate. Having the two custom functions will allow me to set one for speed and one for accuracy.

Get yourself some private dick work Minnt, that'll put it through its paces!

I really like the idea of having a long lens but it just wouldn't get used. Sigh bloody gas.
I've never associated you with someone that has GAS

Well you may have seen my RX1 in the classifieds, I did a spray and pray bunch of emails to the usual crowd and WEX gave me a cracking offer, so it's going to them. It'll pay for something with an '8' in it in addition to the 750 [emoji38]

58...?

Maybe an 8 with an 'e' aswell and a couple of zeros! Not sure yet though, but fancy it for landscapes, and heck, I can only get credit at WEX so I have to buy something [emoji106]

Yawning dog.... why not... lol

David....Well for me it would be purely detail, dynamic range and gas. With the 750 and its ability to recover shadow detail so well, I doubt the difference is huge.

I read this a lot but never find an answer. Why is the 800 series classed as being better for landscapes and portraits?
Well ... for landscapes resolution is king - all else being equal ;) Seriously though, with the right lenses, the D8xx will marginally out perform the D750 on landscapes and the larger you print (assuming you do, I do so ...) the more the difference become clear ime. Of course using a 'blad or Phase1 would give even better results but they are somewhat more expensive too ... that doesn't mean the D750 (or D6xx etc) are crap for landscapes, they aren't by any means, just the D8xx is a little better is all ime/o.

Shadow recovery on the D810 is every bit as good as the D750 ;)

Thanks for the answers guys. I don't print atm so would i see any benefit?

I think you would, but only marginal. I'd only get one as a second body as I loooove the D750.

I have a D700 at the moment and use SB600 and SB800. I'm contemplating changing to a D750. Am I right in assuming I'll be able to use the same flashes with the 750 ?

Yes no problem.(y)

George.

It was just a query really. D810 GAS is never far away though.

As an addition or replacement? Make sure your pc can also handle the files and if a replacement it's worth thinking about what you would lose. Gas is great!

Unless you plan to print big or crop heavily, the D810 will have minimal advantage over the D750. Having said that some of the heavy lenses will balance well on the D810. And the shutter sound is sweeeet.

If most of your pics are going to get viewed on web or mobile both will do fine. I want to add one more thing - if you buy a 24 inch or 27 inch 4k monitor, the images from the D750 will look stunning - at least to your eyes.:D

The other downside of the 750 over the 810 is the shutter speed.

I had the option of both and I chose the 750 as, for pound for pound, in my opinion it was better. That said, if the 750 had 1/8000 shutter it would be perfect in my eyes. I can cope without the pixel rate.
