Nikon D750 & D780

After seeing these shots David I know I need a short prime !

Its seems there are a couple of 1.8D's kicking about, which is what David's been using - I refused a couple based more on research than images and if I'd not committed myself to a sale I might for for one having seen those (but don;t tell him!!)

Haha. I shall be going for the Sigma 50mm F1.4 at some point (the older one) but the 1.8d is a nice little performer to keep me going for the time being. I managed to get it for £50 delivered and it is indistinguishable from new so I'm happy with the performance. No doubt Nikon improved the latest AFS models and they too can be had for silly money.

From what I'd read theres not that much in t except being allegedly soft wide open and the manual override, oh and costing more, weighing more (I think) and being a bit quieter - when I first started looking I was going for the D.

I was looking at the Sigma ART range but am saving for a 300 F2.8, so am holding back for now, the 50 1.8D would be ideal.

I keep forgetting to switch the body af/m switch to m when using my Voigtlander 58mm manual lens . Could this cause a problem - as the manual states it could cause a problem with AF lenses but not AF-S lenses - doesn't mention fully manual lenses.

Hope those are OK - although it says click for full size - doesn't seem to work for me !! anyway these are out of camera nef converted to jpg using viewnx

David - absolutely love this lens - first voigt I've had. The lens is very solid and well made 320 g and really feels good on the 750. Focussing can only be described as creamy smooth!!

Nice set of images David, but the first shot of your daughter is right on the money for me.(y)

George.

Thanks George. It's now my desktop background although i have removed the blue hue from it now and gone just for a plain mono (the camera profile in Lr) conversion. I really like the Nikon profile.

Michael, good to know. I would predominantly be using it for portraiture etc and probably be using it at f1.4. How does it perform there?

Another shot of my definitely better other half. :)

Used the D750 with a Nikkon 24-70 at South Stack in Anglesey for a couple of sunset shots....... I dont usually do sunsets but was curious as to how much dynamic range would be available and what I could draw out of a dark image.

I love #3, what outstanding colours and the gull just finishes it off.

So, what flashguns do you all use..?
In the past I have had a Canon 580 ex2 and no with my Olympus EM1 I have a Metz 58 AF2 - both pretty powerful as I use a lot of bounce.
Looking at the Nikon SB700 and it does seem a little down on power, and the 910 just looks way too expensive.
I could go for another Metz but it would be good to hear any suggestions - Thanks !

CAn't say I've had any issues with the SB700, more than enough power for my needs tbh.

View attachment 44429 David - one this am at 1.4 but using LO iso 1 ev - must say I never use wide open - prefer to use iso to maintain DOF which at1.4 is very slender

No one mentioned that the damn thing comes with a 500 page instruction manual !

Just got my D750 and fear it may take me some time to work out where to put the battery................

I have a couple of SB800`s ... Nasty interface (until you get your head around it), but nice guns.

Superb again Deci. Love your processing. I'm still unsure about grain, I love the film look it undoubtedly helps provide, I just can't bring myself to add it.

I'm still processing 200 shots of my sisters wedding and really don't envy you guys doing it full time, such a drag I find.

Do you know I'd never even heard of the df until now, what a pretty camera, it looks like my E-M1
