Nikon D750 & D780

Haha, oh I assumed you'd sold up and come to your senses again by now.

Sig only shows once in a thread so I can't see it here :)
He came back to the D750 but then broke the camera* and so went back to the D500.

*joking, it kept getting Err messages.

Very misleading information there mate. Ive never for once tempt anyone or tell anyone what kit to have....
That's because your too busy asking others on what they think of z y and z to help you decide what to get next :D lol :p

I'm about to enter the D750 world and just wondered if anyone had any 'essential' set-up tips for making the best of them? :)

Dave

As a serious reply  some people feel that the D750 underexposes (to their taste) and have set the exposure at a few steps up on the camera's default. The thinking is that this is to prevent blown highlights and Nikon expect us to lighten the shadows in post because of the sensor's magic properties.

As toby said, my D750 broke was kind of gutted as was settled. but then I missed some of the feature of the D500 so I had the chance to get it back and the lens and the money so the D500 came back and I do plan to get the D750 or D810 replacement as a 2nd body that if I feel I need to if not I just stick with he D500 lovely camera i am happy and settled....

I set mine to underexpose even further. -0.7.

Also, the sensor appears to be ISO invariant, hence the ridiculous pushability in post.

Bet he was using the same cards from the D500

Yes at first. Then put in 2 brand new ones and still had error and for your info the shutter was broke as I found out

I don't find that with mine tbh. I do find that on the whole spot metering overexposes so have set mine to -0.7.

That'd explain the err message then ;) Was it a brand spanker Andy?

Am I being blind ... or is this pretty good with very little vignetting (ignore the subject / composition / background) ...

Tokina 11-20 f/2.8 (a DX lens) at 11mm f/2.8 on Nikon D750. Looks pretty good to me or have I missed something (imported into Lightroom but no processing was applied)? The image is 3936x2624 so thats full FX isn't it? Auto-DX cropping would be much smaller? I'm assuming that at f/2.8 (wide open) any vignetting will be most noticeable.

What do you mean by ISO invariant?

Vignetting is there but not bad. I though at first it was incredibly soft but it's just you've missed focus badly ;) That is DX mode, full res are 6000 x 4000 approx. 3936x2624 is 10MP approx.

If I decide on a 2nd body I be waiting a while after launch

Mine's set to over expose by 2/3 of a stop - and I often add more. With my D90 I had it set a third of a stop under.

I guess the message is to test it yourself and see what adjustment you require, if any.:)

That makes sense then ... I was missing something ... was expecting a lot heavier vingetting but if its in DX mode that would explain why its not there!

He lost me at always using Manual for Weddings !!!

But that aside, a few interesting points - ta

Dave

If you don't use Manual for every shot at a wedding, and manual focus, then you're not a real pro. According to out of date wedding togs hawking their boring portraits on facebook anyway.

I use auto all the time much easier

I USED to do that :)

Back in the day when drawing your Wedding couple was almost as fast as taking their photo and the max number of photos was 36 ;)

Make record button the ISO button. I keep forgetting too lol

Those of you who set the record button to ISO, what do you use your rear wheel for?

What do you use your camera for? Does it justify a 2nd body? Im not taking the pee, its a genuine question

I did say if I decide I like a 2nd body for FF but at the moment I don't miss it and happy as I am but if I wanted a FF I be keeping d500 and add a 2nd but love to avoid it though.
