Nikon D750 & D780

I bet your ascent wasn't as scary as ours...

This was from a few weeks back now.

These aren't my photos but I do have permission to post them...

front pointing after about 500m of vertical - yes it looks flat and no it isn't ;) http://i.imgur.com/U3RFGjD.jpg
and after the 2km ridge traverse ready for the final slog up the arse of the summit (technical term): http://i.imgur.com/rNkrT0S.jpg

If only we had decent conditions - it's annoying to spend so long getting out and up only to be confronted by wall-to-wall cloud! I love that shot of yours though - perfect sky too

Well Went up to the Lakes over the bank holiday weekend.. Took the little one to the little Zoo that was near where we were staying and I was disappointed as couldn't take images as I wanted to as where the animals were I could only take images through glass which were reflective and dirty.. So I can wait to get to Yorkshire Wildlife Park which I believe is a great place.

But anywhere I will add 3 images here to show that I am trying...

Three very nice shots Andrew, the last one in particular is right on the money.(y)

Cheers buddy, i always like to an ace up my sleeve... Knew the Matalan joggers would win out. :D Where was it you was climbing?

Not sure if i posted this one, but the light was amazing for such a small amount of time. Behind us we were treated to some brilliant rays. We'd never seen anything like it before. They would appear to be anticrepuscular rays.

Not on the one I ordered, cheaper without so only £37 odd. Strange thing is in the checkout it said a promotion had been added and I got a further £10.51 off :D

I ordered one too and got the same discount. I still don't know if I would use it, but since I shoot portraits, I may get more use than I think I would.

Which one was this as it be £20 odd then?

Wow. It's amazing some of the sights you see up in the hills, from simple inversions to stuff like that. Fabulous. I still remember the first Brocken Spectre I saw - basically creating your own circular rainbow with your shadow. Haven't a scooby how it works but it looked cool!

Tint grad on the sky on that one? Great layering (y)

We were heading up towards Nevis via the CMD Arete. Pretty exposed but a really enjoyable route until that final slog (the second picture) started up the last 200m to the main summit. Real last ounce of energy stuff - sapping.

If only we had more reliable weather on the west we could get more shots captured! Hey ho... it's still a "fun" day out. Apparently.

Anticrepuscular rays they are indeed Sir, and yet another "Cracking" shot.(y)

George.

Don't know how I missed that one m8, great shot really like it.(y)

Cheers buddy, I'm pretty happy with it. I didn't initially process it but having no camera for what seems like a lifetime makes you look back at some of your older shots.

Incredible how quick the weather can change though. Pretty sure they have their own weather systems that high up. No grads were used. Infact no filters were.

Inversions you say?

GIANT EYE IN THE SKY.

Perfect atmospheric conditions for the Sun to halo today and unusually it lasted for hours.

And it's huge 1st one 24mm uncropped.

16mm on Tokina 11-16mm

Had to go down the local tidal river for some scenery.

Gannel yacht and halo.

The halo covers about 45' around the sun and the sky inside the halo always looks darker due to some optical phenomenon :)

TBH it needs re editing as there is some CA on the tree. Thanks for your kind words.

Some great pics there.

Given all of you have D750s... I'm after a bit of advice. What is the best way of disguising a brand new D750 to make it look just enough like a Pentax K5. At least to "wife's eyes" anyway??

Just don't, they never take any notice anyway.

Just tell her Nikon have bought out Pentax, and as part of the process they sent all K5 owners, D750s as a welcome gesture. (y)

Genius... I'm liking that one :)

And sadly David, she does seem to notice. When I swapped my kit zoom for a much nicer DA* lens and shot a portrait she asked, "has that lens got bigger? It looks bigger." I think moving to full frame is going to be spotted

Buy her something nice to distract her first before producing the D750 :)

how about some black tape over the D750 and stick the letters D70 over it? A 'mint' D70 would be pretty cheap ;)

I got a new 750 last week, while tentatively discussing upgrading my D7000, i mentioned that there was 2 newer models of the same camera out and left it at that. Hasn't been mentioned since.
I did manage to intercept the postie as i was working at a neighbours house when he came to deliver my 16-35 that i bought at the same time though:D

off topic but I managed to get a new printer in the door via dpd delivery, set up and working without swmbo noticing and yes I have plenty years experience....

only thing is, after a few weeks of smugness at my duplicity, she'll come out with, 'oh, that's a nice..(insert toy of choice), when did you get that?' with that knowing lilt in the voice and look of not caring..BUT..you know you've been caught and await the punishment with dread as you try to think of an appeasement

Yes... it's going to be a tricky one to pull off. After all, it's not just intercepting the arrival of the camera, but then the lenses, the L bracket, the vertical grip... At least my flash triggers are Nikon compatible though.

Perhaps I can just treat myself to an early 40th birthday present?

I have to admit that I once resorted to sending myself a congratulatory letter on winning a Swarovski binocular in a competition that arrived a day before delivery....

Ha ha, that is excellent and at the very least I hope she gave you credit for creative thinking when she saw straight through it ;)

Sshh, that was 16 years ago and one that wasn't found out, honestly..

Do you secretly cringe when she wheels out the "how about when you won that binocular" story at dinner parties? I'm not sure I could keep a straight face for 16 years!

Nope, I've bought so many optical toys she can't follow them all and has genuinely forgotten that one.
I only did it 'cos i'd bought a leica 'scope and bins' six months before.

Am enjoying this conversation. (y) Also hoping to learn something useful because I need a couple of new lenses, lots of studio lights and flashes, a new printer, a few portable hard disks and a monitor calibration thingy. (Plus probably more things as I learn more about photography.) How do I sneak ALL that past the husband?

Lol, well that must be easy, 'cos I just sign for any of the numerous packages that arrive at my door for either my wife or two daughters or such and such a friend that are invariably the latest must have (didn't cost much) fashion, healthy eating or fitness products.
My bum,(to use a Scottish term) is oot the windae as she knows my purchases are often expensive.

So if everyone in your family are buying stuff all the time, that means none of you will get into trouble for buying anything. That's lucky, in a way! (And luckiest for the ones who don't have to foot the bill. :P)

Oh no my camera has developed a fault... Have to send it off for repair... Oh no it's terminal and they don't do this model anymore ...
