Nikon D750 & D780

All nice, but love 2nd one the most. The third one seems to have a different strong red hue on my office laptop
Thanks, just the way the light was as the sun was dropping below the hills (assuming you're seeing what I am). I actually toned it down a touch.

I think it is my laptop screen. getting a new business laptop with IPS screen next week. Btw, that is one lovely place to shoot.

Finally got the 135 dialled in the way I want it ! (For now at least)
So here's a couple of my Welsh Border collie, Biscuit.
The 1st is at f2.8

Focus was on the eye, and full size is on Flickr, for sharpness peepers!

2nd @ f2, with the DC ring set to R2

Again, focus was on the eye. Slightly creamier B/G though.

A couple more random collie shots'

Last one.

Not much processing, so could be better, but I was excited about getting the sharpness were I wanted it !
The 135 DC is a lovely lens, but has it's idiosyncrasies !!

I'll get out soon and try it on a real life person !!

Looks spot on, lovely. I like the colour/contrast etc, looks very natural without PP.

Cracking images Snerkler, [emoji106]
Thanks :)

You always seem to strike it lucky with your days off Toby.

Not keen on the added light on the rock in #3. A little over zealous with a brush perhaps?

I have over the past couple of weeks yeah. Normally I'd say the opposite, I only go out when the light's good so nowhere near as often as I'd like ;) This place is only 5 mins from my house though so I can just nip up if there's a sudden break in the weather :)

Oh, and no light added to any rock

Thanks. He is part collie, bigger part human !

The DC ring is the "defocus Control", on this you can adjust the amount of defocus in any area which is either in front of, or behind, the plane of focus.
I tend to dial in Rear DC, which makes the out of focus background even more "creamy".
The R2 setting means I set it to "Rear", and matched it to the aperture I was using, so "R2".
Confused?, I am !

Interesting, sounds quite a cool feature imo.

It is a cool feature, but if overdone it leads to defocussing the whole image, giving what some call a "dream-like" effect.
I call it "out of focus" !!!
I'm pleased to get this lens sharp, as these lenses need a lot of fine tuning to get right. Well, mine does anyway.

Have read this about the 135, can be hard work, but once you get used to it and tuned like yours it takes a great photo.

I just remembered reading he used one flash on top and one underneath. :) How have you rigged the bottom flash?

My sigma 150 macro has a tripod mount, so I got hold of a 1/4" male to male doodad, and used the flash stand foot to mount underneath. I need to get a couple of rubber washers though, as it doesn`t quite line up.

You're verticles could do with some work...
 Shocking innit ...
