NIKON D7200 SENSOR-AGAIN!!

They haven't mentioned anything. Einfinity don't do the repairs

This is why I won't buy from the Orient, when things go wrong, even with good comms and service, you're in for a long wait. I had to send my camera in for repair recently, twice in fact! Luckily I had bought it local-ish, the first repair took near 2 weeks BUT, they gave me a loaner camera for the duration. When I had to send it in for the second time, they decided to just give me a new one. This was sorted in just over a week, again they sent out a loaner and collected mine, all free of charge. I hope yours gets sorted asap, sucks to have to send a camera away like this, no fault of your own.

I have received an e-mail from Einfinity stating my camera is now repaired and will be returned to me 4-7 days. I asked if a detailed repair report would also be included. Their reply was "no" so I have requested details of what has been carried out. This is their statement....

Sensor cleaning and replacing the digital board have been done by our repair agent. [sic]

Would people expect more or should I be satisfied that they have honoured their warranty and have repaired and tested the camera and returned it to me in the 8 weeks as initially stated.
To be honest, they have done everything they said they would. Albeit just a bit vague.

This isn't always true though is it? With Panamoz for example you send the equipment to your local manufacturer repair centre and they cover the cost.

HDEW use a third party warranty company, you contact them and they arrange the repair with the manufacturer on your behalf.

They are both grey importers.

I'm sure others have had good experience dealing with these companies, but I've been hit a few times by customs and had to wait an age for gear to come through, even after paying up. I would buy from HDEW no problem, it's like dealing with a UK company really, but afaik with Pamamoz and e-finity etc. you are dealing with Chinese warehouses. And they are never in a big hurry to get your gear out, not just with camera gear but in general. I've waited over a month for small items to arrive after purchase, the best way to buy from there is click to purchase and then forget. It's like getting little presents when they eventually arrive then :D When it comes to expensive camera gear I don't like taking the chance.

Your experience differs completely from mine. In the past 3 years alone I have spent just over £15,000 with Panamoz over several orders and have never had to wait any longer than 3-4 working days for delivery including the order I received from them last week, nor have I ever been asked to pay any additional custom charges.

I have also placed a few a few orders with HDEW delivery with them generally takes a little longer around a week or so as they hold very little stock. When you place an order with them they order from China for delivery to them and they then send on to you, which is probably why delivery takes a little longer.

It all hinges on if the camera has been repaired successfully and you won't know that until you test it.

If all is well the warranty has been upheld.

I buy from HDEW when I get grey goods just for this eventuality.

I wish I could be as confident in ordering from those sites, there is bargains to be had. I got hit by customs for a flash, that was the worst one as it took a bunch of emails where I had to send proof of purchase and price so they could calculate the taxes, then pay the extra, await confirmation, agree to pay the Postie another fee and even then it still took 3 more weeks before they released it. This was after the 2 weeks it took the site to send on. I'm just wary of ordering anything bigger since. When I hear others say they've never had any issues it gets me tempted to try again though

I did have the option to use my own chosen repair agent. However, I chose their agent. Maybe this is a longer process?
Not sure why people are commenting on delivery times for purchases. Einfinity were a pleasure to deal with and on purchase, I had my camera in 2 days.

Very likely, good to know that they give the option to choose a local repairer instead.

Times much have changed then. A few years ago I was chatting to a guy called Howard Marks, many many years ago he was famous for dealing drugs.

He was telling me they used to bring everything in via Dublin as the customs there was so lax then ship it over to the U.K.

When they started sending in large quantities they had to give a few quid to the I.R.A so that the customs guys let them do whatever they wanted.

Maybe they over scrutinise now because they used to be renowned for being so lax, although I doubt it, most of the drugs that hits the U.K still comes in via the republic of Ireland first.

You would have thought they would have been more worried about that rather than someone not paying full duty on a camera.

I don't have those kind of contacts :D Yeah, they have gotten much stricter over the years, sadly for me. Anything over €22 is target

Talking bout the IRA and crime etc,I didn’t find out till recently that Charlie Kary who married a local Leicester girl used to operate in Leicester and was trying to set up
deals for his brothers here.I was too busy playing in a band and enjoying myself so missed the fun but it seems a few had some close calls.

I remember Sinn Fein doing the rounds in our estates trying to drum up support, this was during rough times in the 80's when they were deeply involved with the 'RA' - I remember some of my neighbours falling in with them. I was too young to know much about politics at the time, still don't get most of it tbh.

These youth gangs round London and bigger cities seem easy to get drawn into.not much of a life from what I hear

On that occasion it was GearBest, had issues with Ali-express and Fasttech too, they all seem to be much the same

Looking at Panamoz right now and HDEW are actually quite a bit cheaper for what I want

Lmfao GearBest are renowned for being poor it’s like comparing Apples with Oranges. Fast tech and Ali Express are just as poor although i regularly use FastTech for small cheap items. Would t dream of ordering photography equipment from any of those.

Hence why I just said the Orient, as they're all the same that bunch at least, I think some of them share warehouses. I have seen many people recommend e-finity but I have yet to try them. I'll just be worried I'll be unlucky again and end up paying as much as from the UK

Efinity don't have the best of reputations mainly because they used to have an eBay shop with shocking feedback. This was a few years ago and at that time they where known for taking orders, then they would go and try and source the stock this meant long lead times and a lot of cancelled orders etc. They seem to be much better now but personally I prefer to buy from Panamoz who offer a 3 year warranty, Efinity only offer a 1 year warranty.
