The centre focus point on my Nikon D7000 is off centre (to the left) after turning the camera on. It is repositioned to the centre by pressing the OK button and it remains there until switching to another mode or turning the camera off. It was not like this originally so I must have reset it somehow but I cannot work out how or when. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I have searched through the manual without success. (Have tried the f2 reset in the controls without any joy).

You position the AF target by pressing up, down, left or right on the multi selector, not pressing OK.. Is the focus selector lock in the "L" position? Sounds obvious, but sometimes you overlook the obvious.

Have you tried a full reset... holding down the buttons with green dots on for 4 seconds.

If it helps someone else - I must have set up and saved the settings for U1 option while the focus point was off centre. I reset the camera to its original custom settings (holding down the two green dot buttons simultaneously), then reset my U1 and U2 making sure the focus was where it should have been.

You can also set the OK button to reset the AF point to the centre point.
Its in settings somewhere but that's how I use mine so if the AF point is out I just press OK to reset to centre

Nice to know.

Whilst on the subject, I have just moved from Canon to Nikon and got used to the beep when AF was locked on. With the Nikon D7000 when shooting in bright light I can't always see the AF point, so was wondering if there is a way of setting it to beep?
I have got it to beep in live view, but not in the viewfinder :help:

Thank you

Menu D1 is your beep settings

Thanks Julian.
I have set it to beep, even got the musical note symbol showing in the top LCD screen, still no beep...

Back to the (drawing board) RTFM

Have you got the volume up?
I can hardly hear mine on the low setting
