Nikon D7000 ais compatibility

Can anyone advise if the Nikon d7000 will work with old Nikon AIS kens in aperture priority mode? I have a 600mm AIS ED 5.6 Nikki's lens and was set on a d2x as I know that does the aperture mode - but now thinking about the D700.. Can anyone clarify this for me? The Internet, as always, does not seem to tell me straight!

Quick answer - yes they work. Had a 35mm AiS f2 on mine. As long as you program the non cpu pens data into the menu on the camera so it knows what the aperture ring is doing.

Hmm thank you guy - i did have a trawl of the inter web but I found it confusing, even that Nikon link! Thank you both!

That little plastic burr sits next to the aperture ring rear, so when the aperture ring is moved, it moves the burr, and the camera knows about it. You have to programme the camera in the menu for it to know the max aperture. Works a charm.
