Have you used one then?

IME, both the D700 and D600 are an improvement over a D90 in terms of IQ and both would be ideal for weddings. Although as I posted in your other thread, think about quality of lenses and backups for bodies/lenses too.

Having owned D300 before D700, I know that the D300/D300s has much better distribution of focus points than D700. I really miss focus points located in golden thirds of the image. I have to focus and recompose much more often than before. It was much easier to do the composition right with D300.

Although I never owned D600 I think that the problem must even bigger because it is missing outer AF points.

I owned a D300 following my D700 and didn't find it a bind tbh...maybe just how I shoot. There is no doubt that both AF systems are a massive improvement over the lower end bodies.

No, I'm still shooting with a couple of D300. I managed to blag the loan of a D600 - went back today - for a couple of weeks. I've used the D700 before so have quite a number of images to use in side-by-side comparison.

The D600 file size is okay provided you have a reasonably good computer. I don't think they made running Lightroom or CS6 any slower.

I'm still coming down on the side of the D700 though :D
 
The AF points was the deal breaker for me. After years and years of the D700 I was hoping that technology would progress so that in future cameras the AF points would be even closer to the edge of the frame. The D600 felt like a massive step backwards in that respect:thumbsdown:

I could live with the body size, layout and build (although I prefer the D700 and D800 build) but the AF points being so clustered is just awful for my style of shooting.
